Gear Selecting Troubles

   Hello i have a little problem sometimes the car struggles to go into gear, its mainly when its been driving around for a while, and going down in gear from say 4th to 3rd or even going up in gears 1st to 2nd to 3rd and some times when trying to go into reverse etc.
   
   I just normally put it in neutral take foot of clutch then jam it back down and try changing gear again.
   
   When its in gear it works fine no crunches or noises or anything like that and drives normally and has no problems with acceloration, and the clutch seems fine as it has no problems setting off either.
   
   The gear stick does feel a bit wobbly aswell if you know what i mean?
   What do you recon it could be?
   
   linkages, selector or something else?

   Car is a 106 GTI by the way not a saxo but there practically the same

   may be on its way out mate, how are you changing gear, like normal or aggressive??
   
   try an oil change in the box too
   
   and as you said could be the linkages they may need renewing, dont think there that much

   Wrong section.. but as i've been saying in e previous thread your car is doing the same as mine and a mechanic told me new selectors will do it

   cheers for the advise ill change the oil and get some new rods and a selector im hoping its not the box i change gear normally i dont hammer it about, once its in gear its great no noises i thought it would make a grinding kind of noise when its on its way out?

   Sorry i completely didn't notice where it was posted my bad! lol.. i wonder if i phoned overton see if they had saxo gear selectors? lol

   no worries mate no worries, do u mean linkage rods or selector as there is only one selector but 3 linkage rods

   i'd have a look at the two selector arms that come straight out the box they only have a daft split pin jolding them onto the shaft these can some times come loose and give the same affect.

   Just the selector well the guy i bought my vtr off i goes hell this gear box is slack and he said yeah replace the selector and it should be fine.
