silicon hosing

  1. #1
av decided its about time i bough myself some silicon hosing so i can fit my enclosed induction kit and get rid of my open filter.

thing is i'm not sure exactly what i'll need. am guessing i'll need a 90 degree elbow but not sure on sizes

i've took a picture of the opening of the induction kit an it seems to be 3inchs

but am not 100% sure on the size of the opening of the throttle body on my mk2 vtr

if anyone can let me know on size of the throttle body opening that'd be great and if i'll need anything other that a 90 degree elbow hose

    thanks

Measure it in mm, i would work it out but i cant be arsed.

Then get a 90o bend the same size
A metal straight pipe the size of the filter
a reducer from the size of the filter to 60mm throttle body

The straight metal pipe is not required but will improve performance by moving the filter infront of the engine to stop you from sucking in Warm air.

I recommend using the pipes the size of the filter instead of the throttle body as using a reducer last will create a venturi effect and speed up the air entering the throttle body.

emm 3 inchs is about 76mm

so the throttle body opening is 60mm??

checked that site dont have a 76mm-60mm 90degree elbow but they do have a straight reducer that is that size.

do ya think i could have the straight reducer 76-60mm coming from the throttle body and then just a 76mm 90 degree elbow goin to the enclosed induction kit?

    Get a 90 degree bend at 76mm
    And a reducer at 76 - 60mm.

Always use the smallest measurement last.

Then you can either slap the filter on that 90 degree bend or get another pipe to put it infront of the engine to keep it cool, but if its a BMC rep and its carbon / enclosed you shouldnt have a problem.

Id get you a piccy of mine but my card readers bein gay!!
