which gearbox for my vtr?

   my gearbox is buggered now so was wondering whats the best one to go for? do you reckon i should just get a vtr one as i can get one for £50 or shall i go for a 1.4 gearbox?
   
   want better acceleration but still want the top end - might aswell change it while replacing the clutch(clutch gone after 3k miles so going for an uprated one )

   Doesnt have the sport gearset though. Go for a vts box, will give you better acceleration than the VTR box and has the sport gearset.

   Not over the VTR box. IIRC the VTR box has the longest ratios of them all.

   VTS is shortest other than an s1 box.
   
   My VTR with VTS box did about 5 mph less at 3k on the motorway.

   yeah mines the same, top end is only around the 120mph mark as well, but i prefer the quicker set off any way. and its not as though ya gonna be tonning it every where any way. so id go for the VTS box, i got mine off the bay for £45 and the guy was only about 4 miles away. RESULT!

    vts box or whether you want it shorter. ie s1,xsi box

    i herd tht the 1.5 diesel boxes are good on accelaration if u put thm on vtr's an vts's!?!?!?

    all sports boxes use the same gearset.
    
    vts final drive is still long
    
    s1 rallye/1.4xsi/s2 rallye/1.6xsi/vts.
    
    so not the second shortest

    back in the day ford boys used to love the DIEsel boxes tho.
