Fitting carbon doorcards

  1. #1
Right, finally got round to fitting my carbon fibre doorcards 2day but i havent got a clue what to stick them on with!!

I tried double sided sticky tape & that didnt work, then i tried double sided foam tape & that didnt work either!

    What do people recommend?

Try a good selant like "no more nails" that should do the job just fine but make sure you buy a quick set one.

i have put some self tappers in now. The best thing for the job by far.

i have retrimmed my doorcards not put carbon on

id probablies use some veclro tbh, would make things easier if you want to get into the door if anything goes wrong

otherwise some silcione.sealent or pop rivets will do

i used some industrial velcro, sits perfectly, no holes and easily removal for cleaning

probs paid about £6 for enough for fronts and backs.

Then drilled me door bins into the door

you could just stick them on with the no more nails tape.....they will come off then also if needed, but won't just fall off

i must admit i think riviting looks the best, but what do u do if u need 2 get them off? Do u just drill them out?
  12. #12
If you drill slightly smaller than the initial drilling hole then you'll pop the rivet out and still be able to rivet the same size into the same holes when you need to put them back on

I first used double sided tape but there wasnt enough surface area for them to stick to so I ended up using a good glue (impact)

Mine arent Carbon Fibre but textured Plastic.

Would post pic's but I cant get photobucket to work today

You want to be able to take them off incase your window or locks knacker up?

    Is that the finished article?

You will be able to take them off. Just drill the rivits out with a smaller diameter drill, takes about 30 secs and you can just rivit them back on when you're finished..

dont know what you mean by finished article?

the pic with the less rivits looks better

The best thing for this job is black silicon. It takes a while to cure and you need to keep them firmly pressed on but it sticks like shit after that. Also it doesn't rattle either. That's how I fitted mine!

    ^^^ wow smart!

i will probably use black silicone on mine as i'm getting some very thin ally ones made and then getting them powder coated black.
