a mate of mine has a vtr and also has a set of dellorto twin 40's
which came of a ford and gave massive performance difference
he is now wanting to put them in his vtr

but they can only be fitted to non injection cars and vtr is injection obviously..........is there a way of taking injecton out and fitting them???

    sorry for the wierd Q!

you can fit them, but may have issues setting them up to pass emmissions and make good power.

TBH carbs are a bit outdated.. the future.. well the now.. is fully mappable ECUs and TBs

As already said MOT will be a real problem especially when you consider the year of your car. Post 1992 and you have to take the stricken MOT test and post 1995 and you can not get away with much at all. So basically your car will not pass a proper MOT and will not be legal to drive on the road if you do it all legally. You can try and cheat tests but I will not get in to that.

There is also the problem with ignition, you can not just strap some carbs on a VTR and expect it to run. You can put a dizzy on most VTRs but that is one massive step backward in performance. Or you can go stand alone ECU.

Then even fitting them is a bit of a problem. The side draft Dellortos don’t really fit. You have to have a really restrictive manifold. The AX sport came with this setup and it did not work that well. If you have the down draft Dellortos they tend to work much better. Just get a GMC down draft manifold and they fit ok.

You will have to get them professionally setup for your application especially if your going for large carbs like you have.
