17" wheels

  1. #1
    hi all

i got some new wheels off ebay the other day and had a go at fitting the big mothers last night. thing is they dont fit anyway the guy b4 me had them on his saxo and they seemed 2 fit fine he tells me.

when i say they didnt fit they went under the arches fine but when i tried 2 butt the wheel up against the hub there was i gap of about 15-20mm the guy gave me 2 spacers with the wheels but still dont have the thickness to fill the gap.

the whells are (armano razors 205X40 think the et is 16)

does anyone know the size spacer i need 2 make em fit

If the ET is 16, then you shouldnt need a spacer...

    let me explain:

    Saxo ET is like 15-17.

ET15 wheel you would need no spacer
ET25 wheel you would require 7mm-17mm spacers
ET35 wheel you would require 17mm-27mm spacers
ET40 wheel you would require 23mm-25mm spacers

Does that make sense for you?

What profile tyres you running? how wide are the wheels? 7"? 7.5? 8"?
  5. #5
iam being really thick but what is the et??
  6. #6
    the offset of the wheel.

you say you have ET16 which should be pretty much perfect, what model of saxo is it? If it has rear drum's then it may require small spacers but that should be it
  7. #7
when mine had rear drums it needed 6mm spacers

    hi

thanks for all the help i was losing faith and was thinking of selling em but ive seen the light after your advise.

i checked my et again last night and think ive got it wrong it has ts16 stamped on the back of the alloy but then there is also 12 stamped on to (a?.

yeah my cars a saxo vts (99 plate) and the car they came off was a saxo vtr (99 Plate. the gap is between the hub and the back of the alloy. i called a wheel place to see if they could shed any light as i dont know much about offsets and they said aparently i need to by a 25mm fitting kit and he also said that i would have 2 adjust the ride height back to standard to get them on??? whats all that about? is he telling me bob? or have i spent £200 on lowering my car 4 no reason at all

    spec of my car

55mm droped on gmax (with standard wheels)

    spec of new wheels

Amano Razor (205x40x17 tyre is 7.5" wide

hes talking mince about the ride height. Though im unsure if you need this 25mm fitting kit you would need that if it was ford offset or something, try and geta picture.
  10. #10
We still need the offset of the wheel..

Dont worry about the ride hight, the ride hight that you have will be fine.

The width of the wheel is fine and the tyre is fine.

I personally have not heard of those wheels before.... well i dont think so and i can not find them on google.

I will assume that they are not made for saxos as saxos have one of the lowest ET settings on the market.

You should try and 20-25mm kit and see if they fit without catching on the inside then

    yes yes yes

well got some news man . i got in contact with the guy who sold me the wheels. guess what? he forgot to give me the spacers when i collected them. oh my god !the spacers hes given me stick out more than jordans boobs but not as nice of course.

the wheels fit nicely. with them on and it sits like a cat ready to pounce. thing is i only tried em yesterday
so didnt get round to doing the arch modds.

yeah loads of clearence under the arch but c what u mean about the bumper bracket its quite close to the wheel as for the spacer gap u are write its 25mm.

oh one more thing yes bet u think iam taken the mick now but the bumper bracket does it need cutting write off or can i get way with just cutting half of it its just if i cut it all off will the bumper hang lose and look crap? ps great site your chaps know there saxos here and ive wanted 2 make a donation but it would accept my card deatils will try again later.

    hmmm.. the rear bumper bracket...

To be honest this is a personal thing on how far you want to go and how much clearence you want.

I have taken mine completely off and i am going to find another way to bracket the sides of the rear bumper for stability.

Saying that my 17"s never touched it, its only since my 18" went on that the rear bumper bracket started to get eaten by the wheels.

    Got any photos now chap?

Its bizarre, i got a mate around the corner from me called tim, whos just fitted 17" wheels and has been asking the exact same questions.

    Whats the chances! LOL
  17. #17
bet hes not as cool as me tho! sorry only joking. its seems everyone i know with a saxo seems 2 be fitting 17" at the mo. dont know must be that time of year weather girl friend trouble stuff like that. ha only kiding again.

  18. #18
how low was the drop on your car with the 17s on??
i was thinking of getting uprated shocks on the back so it doesnt bounce and catch. it should feel a lot more racer then.

anyway bet your sick of this subject.

my girl friends just dumped me 4 my car?? whats that about. saxo 1st girl friend 2nd thats what i think. may b u disagree but iam sick of her my car doesnt give me hassle and it never talks back 2 me like a bob that wont flush. i was thinking of having saxo babys 2 make her jealous but dont think thats going 2 work some how. oh well will have 2 start courting again.

  19. #19
Lol, Bob that won't flush. I've never heard that one before!
  20. #20
yeah bob is the word at that mo man. get down with it and use it. i call my brother a bobface and he loves it. well dont think he does really but it makes me chuckle.
  21. #21
yeah iam interested inb the wheels mate, have u got any pics?
  22. #22
    hi

got them on. after many hours of trial and error i managed to get em on. thing is ive got a gapping hole where the air boxes used 2 be so will have 2 weld some plates on or something. ive put expanding foam inside for the time being.the wheels do catch on full lock and i was advised by big city tyres when i had them balanced that this was really bad and could blow out if they touch at high speed. oh well back to the daily grind.
