That is very odd, Its should not be doing that. All they do is slightly stiffen the shell. Handy to help stop your windscreen cracking when you have sticky rubber on and hard suspension.
The lower brace really helps when you have a lot of grip and very good brakes. In the AX at least you can get the shell to flex so much it starts rubbing the inner arch. The cars just ends up wondering all over the place if you dont to anything to stiffen things up. Some of the big boost turbo people even get it under power.
But for the most parts they should not make any significant change to the neutral balance on the car under most situations. Perhaps there is something more going on with your car? Did you make any other changes at the same time? its normally things such as tyres, tyre pressures, weight distribution, ride heights, spring rates, damper rates and role bars that make the most notable difference.
