Quickshift

been looking at griffiths quickshift for 20 quid.
just wandering if anyone has/had one.
    http://www.griffiths-engineering.co.uk/
what does everyone think? apparently easy to fit.
    much love

they work, i never used to do this but search please.....
Its not hard. Dont say you have mind, because i know you havnt i started a thread exactly the same a few month back

Really easy to fit, and work a charm!

They look pretty cool and i helped a mate fit one on a focus and it took about 30 minutes tops.

I think it will make a difference but it's the poor mans B&M and at the end of the day you get what you pay for
  5. #5
still havent fitted mine but for 23 pound delivered you cant go wrong imo
  6. #6
I fitted mine today, it was a bit fiddly to fithaving to move the wiring out of the way etc, but the results are worth it. I love the feel of the shorter shift.

ive got the tas style quickshift and its spot on?
  8. #8
I am seriously thinking about getting one too
  9. #9
i have one of these and like makaveli144 said bit fiddly fitting but worth it imo !
  10. #10
so all they do is shorten your shifts?
  11. #11
I have short arms so it will help me hahaha
  12. #12
shortens the movement of the gearstick from one gear to another !
  13. #13
well worth the money imo, like said a bit fiddely to fit but very impressed by it
  14. #14
    poor mans B+M as said
  15. #15
just fitted one to the VTR. The difference in gear feel is brilliant. the B+M one could be better, i have never used one but for £25 delivered they feel great.

Well worth it in my opinion. it feels a bit strange at first, like it isn't in gear but you soon get used to it and it is brilliant.

They are a bit fiddly to fit but nothing difficult just a bit akward working in the area that they are fitted (not much space for your hands etc).

Get one bought. you wont regret it

it saves 75 quid on the B+M.
  17. #17
got car with it done . dont know what kind i have probably never will whatever it is it does the job !

buying a B+M off another sax-p member this weekend for £80

id rather have the proper stuff then the cheap stuff.

dont forget tho if you havea quickshift you should change your linkages aswell you'll get an even better peformance gain in changing gears.
    smoother+faster.

my linkages are like 4000 miles old only anyways.
  20. #20
i said its best to get new linkages lol dont mean you have to buy them.

i looked at the linkages on my saxo and there like pencils lol compaired to the strong stiff looking rose linkages.

i was told a while back that it can effect your gearboxes syncho's overtime for its use to putting a gear into place at a certain pressure/distance and because you put a quickshift in it reduces the distance a gear needs to be changed which in turn fools the gearbox into thinking its now in a certain gear.

so vertime your synchros in your gearbox wear away then its time for a gearbox lol.

hence why if your gonna buy something for an item that is so important (i.e the gearbox) you buy the dogs dangles and not somethign thats cheap there are some griffth imitations right now on ebay type in saxo quickshift there at £15 and £3 postage exactly the same as the griffth.

the gearboxes are pretty simple mechanically with basically two levers to move the input shafts. The only extra stress a quickshift will put on your system is if you try to change gear too fast and dont allow the synchos to mesh. You can do this with the standard lever though so if you dont rush you will be fine and you will benefit from the lesser movement, which will speed up your gearchange anyway.

lol im not gonna say the name who told me the info i found out lol all im gonna say is alot of people want him to be the mod for the engine section on this site lol.

lol I dont think anyone on here including me will be right all the time....

Basically you have two lever arms on the box. To change gear you have to move the arms say 10mm. A quickshift will move the arm the same amount but changes the amount of movement at the user end, rather than the gearbox end. You should be adjusting the rods from the pivot arm to the gearbox lever arms

if it does the same job but costs almost a tonne less, Im all for it tbh
