choice of two manifolds?

Kam racing's site has either, the supersprint manifold (275 notes), the raceland (145 notes) manifold or the piper manifold (289 notes) for the saxo vts

basically which is regarded as better?

Also am i right in thinking, neither of these have the cat in them as it is not best to run a cat in your manifold?

none of them have the cat in it..

quality wise supersprint and piper are way ahead of the Raceland... and for a road car (without race spec cams) is arguably the more suitable.

I had a Janspeed Mild Steel 4-2-1 for a while then when I damaged it I replaced it with a Piper 4-1, I noticed a small push of power from the low rev range say 2k-4k with the 4-2-1 and now with the 4-1 I notice a better gain over 4k.

One thing I will say tho is when I had the 4-2-1 I had a full Janspeed cat back twin box system, now with my 4-1 I have a single box system with a custom built Group N style system

So its hard to tell really

Ive heard go reports from the raceland over factory equipment

the Racelands get good gains throughout the rev range but they are cheap and if you go over them with a fine tooth comb you start to notice where the quality has suffered. For the price though they cannot be beaten.

Spend a little more and you'll get a work of art. Better welds and a superior design and finish make the difference when you are trying to get every last drop of power out of an engine.

Good advice, if you can stretch the budget either go for the SuperSprint 4-2-1 or the Piper 4-1.

I personally havent found this maybe I drive too girly but with the Stainless Steel manifolds the harder you rag the engine the colours in the manifold will change from silver to blue or something like that

haha, cheers for advice guys, i really need like a recomendation for a whole system with an enclosed induction kit as am yet to have bought any of it.

As with the raceland manifolds compared to the supersprint or piper, does anyone know what the overall difference in power is? I am working to a budget however wont want to be buying bad stuff that wont do the job properly as i know you get what you pay for.

Any recomendations on full decat'd zorst, manifold and enclosed induction please....?

Also whats the best out of 4-2-1 or 4-1 for the vts? I know you get earlier gains and later gains in the rev range from different ones but tbh i want the acceleration over top end anyday.

unfortunately with going budget you get what you pay for. can you save a little longer and then get better parts. in my opinion save the money a little longer then get a supersprint or piper manifold or maybe a miltek, then get a magnex system then a bmc or green enclosed induction kit. kamracing do an enclosed similar to the green kit which is popular for a lot less money than the green. but it's up to you what you go for. get the bits then some pics when fitted.

budget and where you wanna end up are the questions

budget and staying breathing mods. id prob go replacement filter, raceland fanny ,

for cams at later date- id go green enlosed and supersprint

hmmm yeh, budget is a problem but am willing to save for that parts as know it will be better in the long run.

Green cotton forced induction kit anygood? The with supersprint manifold and then i just need to decide on what decat and zorst system to get....

The induction is perhaps an area you can save on. I see no reason to purchase the green (at a premium) when you can get a Raceland with green filter which makes it just as good. They are about as well made as each other...

i have the green on my vtr. tbh it's all looks and noise, maybe when combined with all the breathing mods and a cam and remap then it may be all good. as for the exhaust get the magnex.

the magnex system with decat pipe?

And kam...the raceland forced induction on your site with the green filter i think it 80 notes? Does the green filter sit in the kit or something? I dont get it lol

the racland kit comes with a shit filter so you can upgrade it to a green one.

The standard raceland filter is too small and isn't that well made. We open up the box throw the filter in the bin and put in a lovely replacement Green filter thats about twice the size. Still fits like a good'un

if you get the raceland buy plenty of plasters as its a flawed design and not the easiest of manifolds to fit with not much clearance between the primaries and the nuts and bolts also get a new copper nut and bolt kit as your old ones maybe tired and stretched a little i think the new nut and bolts are around 49p each from citroen

I have just invested in a Supersprint manifold for my VTR, i weighed up the pro's and con's and decided the quality was worth the extra cost. There are also future mods to consider when taking cost into account. You really dont want to buy something that is not going to fit in with what you plan to do in the future. I decided that the Supersprint would compliment any mods i make at a later date. As for fitting the manifold, i would reccomend getting replacement gaskets, studs and nuts like one of the others has suggested. I put in an order for all the bits and peices to fit the manifold to the head and then to the Cat and it set me back about £20 from Citroen. Investing in the new bolts etc means fitting it 'should' be pain free.

Tbh any reasonably well made 4-2-1 is going to get nice gains, and surely Kam Racing wouldn't sell anything thats not up to it (correct me if im wrong, kam

) so on a budget I'd be inclined to pick the Raceland, as its soo much more value. May not have the best fit and finish but for the money, it's bound to be quite good, right?

I wouldn't sell the Raceland if you didn't get proven gains from it.

The Supersprint is better no question.. worth the extra money? that more an individual choice.

Yeah i guess for extracting every last inch of power perhaps the extra pricing of the Supersprint is worth it for the power-hungry enthusiast. But as you tell us Kam, the Raceland gives proven gains, and for a mildly enthusiastic modifier who requires quick road use but little in the way of track sport, thats enough for me, especially since i plan to fit a sports cat and s/s system. So when i've payed off my overdraft (lol- hopefully before the year's end) I'll certainly be ordering the Raceland 4-2-1 from you, my friend

Depends on how far DanT wants to go with his modifications i suppose.
