gearbox or clutch?

   i dont know if my problem is with the gearbox or clutch.but its really hard to get 1st gear unless its rolling and i cant get reverse without it making that horrible grinding noise even with the clutch hitting the floor
   
   any ideas

   You could try tightening your clutch a bit... the synchros could also be worn. when you go into reverse make sure the cars at a complete stop or it will grind

   prob be clutch fucked tbh.
   
   test to see if it slips i do is, drive along at say 40mph in 2nd/3rd... dip clutch then reingage it, should be able to tell from the feel if its slipping and the note.
   
   reverse on MA boxes tends to crunch alot so pump clutch twice, or select a gear before going into it.
   
   as said car should be stationary before going in reverse.

   could try lubing the gear linkages to see if that helps

    I kinda got the same problem.. when my car is out of gear the gear stick will wobble about something silly, also when i put it in reverse i need to slam it right then slam it down for it to go in.. first isn't as bad as reverse but still a bit of a bitch sometimes! Got told its gear selector needs replacing though
