cool, i think i have to remove the wheel to do mine on my VTR though. PAIN IN THE ARSE.

    easy daryl very easy

to the 2 torx behind the air bag, 25 i think they are, they dont come all the way out so dont worry, take air bag off. then you need a 50 torx for the middle, undo that, then pull steering wheel off

next you will have it look like this

i think its maybe a 10 or 15 torx you need for the 2 screws on the indicator stalk, you may not be able to slide the stalk off from there, so if you look at the middle bit where the orange wire is, slide that out and there is 3 more screws i think 30 in size, take them out and you should be able to get at it, i cant rember if you have to do that tho

but the stalk just slides off and new one slide on, then connect up wires and put back together

its easy, very easy, and its no hassle, 7 bolts/screws to do

tell me where its actually easy to replace an indicator stalk... not many are i dont think

Thanks mate. Just looked at it and i can get to those 2 torx bolts without removing the wheel. do i HAVE to remove the wheel or is it just those 2 bolts holding it in?

However i dont have the rite size torx bit so have to go to halfords before i start

yes you need to remove the wheel i think, i swapped steering wheel but removing steering wheel is easy

you do the 2 bolts on back of steering wheel, once they are undone the air bag is off and there is just that big 50 torx to do, its easy can do it in 2 minutes mate

actually lookin at my pic you may not need to remove the steering wheel

will need the plastic housing from behind wheel off, 2 botls again, think they are 10 torx

Housing is off and stalks exposed. By looks of it you dont need to remove the wheel. Il try it without first if not il remove the wheel. Done it a few times before.... to replace for a momo...... not a hard job BUT a pain in the arse getting the wheel straight sometimes.

Il go to halfords and buy a torx set and let you know how i get on.,

Thanks mate thats alot of help.

Nope im gonna have to remove the wheel because it slides sideways but the dash is in the way ... so have disconnected battery and waiting 30mins to take wheel off.

its easy to do, just try not to damage the bit with the airbag wire in it. Unclip it from underneath and it should push through, dont force it too much. once that bits out, another 3 screws and 2 or 3 connectors to unplug and the stalk unit should be out..good luck

Good luck dude. Take yer time!

i disconnected mine with battery on, i figured that if they aint connected up how can they go off?
  14. #14
its all done now, had none of the right size torx bits had to buy a new set

finally all ok now after moving the wheel about 10 times because it wasn't straight.

lol, thats a pain in the arse that, getting it back striaght again lol. how did you get it straight in the end?

the torx bits you would have use would have been T10,T25,T30,T50 i think

    Correct.

And i just drove down the road in a straight line with the airbag off, undid the bolt with the socket and moved it in the direction it was out 1 notch at a time untill it became straight. Right ball ache the whole thing lol Also fooked that airbag ring device aswell..... loads of metal strips came out of it and snapped the plug but managed to win it all back in and airbag light isnt on so all good.

I'm off to a breakers to get a stalk, does the airbag just pull off before any screws are removed? Cheers!

No, there are two holes on the back of the steering wheel, with bolts securing the airbag in.

I did, I managed to do it anyways. From the picture I thought those two torx either side of the 50 torx were the otherway around. meaning the airbag would have to come off first before getting to them. Cheers!
