4-2-1 raceland manifold help!

ok i got 2 questions. My mate has got a vtr 2000 90bhp.

He has just got off the phone to me and asked if i could post these questions.

    1) Does he have to change the oil filter to get the raceland in? (which sits at the bottom)

    2) there's a whole at the bottom left of the manifold, is that where the lambda sensor go? because there's no other socket for it to go!

    Thanks!

If he has a Mk1 vtr, then im pretty sure he doesnt have to move the oil filter, as its already in the right place. Its only the Mk2's that need moving. And if thats the only hole for the lambda sensor i guess it must go there, lol. But not sure on that one.

it's the mrk2 vtr, but the 90 bhp model....? please don't tell me the filter will still have to be changed lol....

If it's the Mk2 vtr, then he will need to change the oil filter for an mk1 one.

Reason being: there is no clearance for the new manifold with the current oil filter.

Cheap enough to replace. Order from Citreon, and you'll need the screw in adapter which fixes the filter onto the head of the engine.

There will be a small hole that you need to block (normally has the oil return feed). Do not leave this open as oil will leak.

As for the lambda, the sensor which normally plugs into the top of the manifold will be plugged into the new manifold hole, while the 2nd which is normally connected to the pipe after the catalytic converter, will need to be sealed and tied somewhere safe. You can buy a sleeve from GMC motorsports which you screw the sensor into, then metal tie it away from any moving parts.

Basically, the 1st one is in the manifold to read exhaust gas, the 2nd has to be reading cleaner air, so keep it away from the fumes.

so will the mrk1 oil filter be in the same place as the mrk2 filter? but the only difference is that it's a mrk1 oil filter with an adapter?

Aslong as its a mk2 90bhp you don't need to change the oil filter or anything, manifold will fit straight on. Only need to do that on mk2 98bhp models!

should fit straight on no props with tghe oil filter.

and yeah the whole must be the lambda

good as im in the same situation, with a mk2 with the cat under the car?
  9. #9
lol same here, so is there a different conector to fit the mk1 oil filter to the mk2?
