So I fitted my supersprint manifold yesterday and realised once it was on that it has no bracket to connect it to the gear box. The only problem I've had so far is that it rattles a bit when reversing. Does it need to be connected to the gearbox? I got a quote from a stainless steele exhuast place for fitting a bracket to it which was £30-40 plus VAT, but he said it isn't needed as the "flex is after the gearbox"? Answers on a postcard please
Supersprint manifold fitted!

#2i had this with my raceland didn't fit i haa a bracket moved to fit as it kept breaking the flange join on the cat that was my only bad experience with different manifold
-
#3Shit dont tell me that, im going to get my raceland fitted next week! Hope i dnt have any problems? What u think from past experince to avod any problems? cheers
-
#4ask snewham mate he fitted his, still aint fitted mine or id be able to answer it
-
#5Didnt u need to relocate oil filter?
-
#8for supersprint you dont but raceland you do, all depends where the filter is obviously
-
#9it fitted on without relocating it but it's touching it... Just keeping an eye on it incase it melts or anything, so far it seems ok.
-
#10use a bit of heat wrap mate
-
#11That's my plan if it starts to melt or burn itQuote:

#12Mine is fine but the lower strut brace literally wedges it in place so I suppose that would eliminate the problem for me.
-
#13you would think that these manifolds would be straight forward bolt on parts, too many small things have to be relocated and moved!
-
#14Had my car up on a ramp today to check out why it's rattling, it's where the middle section and manifold join rattling on something. I'm going to get a bracket put on to mount the mani to the gearbox as I think it has too much movement without being mounted here. Would have thought an expensive mani like the Supersprint would come with a bracket!
-
#15lol like wise, i was thinking of dishing out the extra to get an easy job but by the sounds of things theres no such thing with manfolds! At least its not major!
-
#16btw have you noticed any differance with the manfold on?
-
#17What does it sound like now with manifold on? does it pop abit now u got rid of the cat?
-
#18It's louder with the mani but I've not heard it pop which is disapointing! Although I still have a centre silencer which may stop the pops. I've noticed that it revs more freely but it's not a big difference.
-
#19the centre silencer is baffled so will help mute any pops.
Need a straight through system really -
#20I think the next stage after I get the mani on is to go ahead and cam the bugger! Will let you's know how the fitting of the raceland goes?!
-
#21Yep you should consider geting a Supersprint Center Pipe, then you should get the popsQuote:It's louder with the mani but I've not heard it pop which is disapointing! Mine pops now and then even with the standard crappy manifold with cat though only lil pops
-
#22Think I've spent enough money for now! Although tonight my brother told me he noticed a hole in the centre section when it was on the ramps the other day, yet it's a stainless Magnex section which is only about a year old or less! Think I'll need to be looking out my guarantee.
-
#23Yeh looks like u better get a replacement, but i would recommend a Supersprint center pipe there only mild steel but work every penny but thats if you cant find the gurantee......but like u said i enuff money spend i would be happy with just the manifold
-
#24Yeah I'm happy with the mani, pops would just be a bonus lol.
-
#25I stand corrected, it does pop! Doesn't do it all the time, only did it when changing from 4th to 2nd gear, and could only hear it with the passenger window down
Just out of interest, where should I have put the lambda sensors in the mani? It had 3 holes for 2 sensors so I put the top sensor in the top hole and the sensor from the down pipe in the hole in the middle and just left the very bottom hole screwed up, this sound ok? -
#26I have no idea ive heard people put theres in a sleeve or somethin but i might be wrong
Get a video of the sound mate if you can
just to let u no this is why i recommend a supersprint

a few pops at high revs -
#27sounds nice m8!
-
#28Are you meant to change from 4th to 2nd? You can sleeve one of the sensors which is just for the clean air sensor. But if your manifold has three holes then try it out, just make sure that the engine management light doesn't come on and you'l be fine m8! Soon to have my manifold fitted so il will keep you posted!Quote:I stand corrected, it does pop! #30Yeah I'm going to get a vid and I'll post it once I have it. The engine management light hasn't come on so hopefully it's ok, thought it would have though as it must be reading dirty air!
I was taught to change down gears like this when I was learning to drive so fingers crossed it's ok to do! lol.Quote:Are you meant to change from 4th to 2nd?
