Phase 2 VTR - how the hell do you decat it?

  1. #1
Hi there, sorry for any mistakes or anything im new to this.

I've been looking everywhere for mk2 VTR stainless decat manifolds, but cant find them anywhere?

currently i just have a raceland green induction kit and an ashley exhaust (cat-back) and really want to de cat it as iv heard the noise and performance gains are good.

just wondered if anyone knows or could help in how to get my hands on a stainless manifold that takes out the cat, or ne alternate options.

    cheers for looking.

there`s a guide in the link below for the raceland manifold on what to do to fit the manifold which decat`s it also. but there`s also other manifolds which go staight on with less messing about. you can get them on ebay or demon tweeks place like that

    oh okay

ive had a look, the raceland 4-2-1 manifold is alot cheaper, but it takes alot of messing around from the looks of it.

if you fit that, would i have to replace my ashely cat back with a vtr phase one de cat exhaust?

    im gettign well confused lol

    cheers

nah mate your exhaust on the car would be fine its just the manifold you would have to replace. there`s also another manifold for the mark 2 that has a sport cat built into it. think its called a miltek but it was like 400quid. but saves the hassel at mot time cause you wouldn`t have to swap manifold over again. there`s another site called gmc motorsport that do a manifold that bolts straight on so there`s no messing about with the oil filter. but same goes for mot with these manifold you would have to put the standard back on to pass the emissions tests.

Supersprint is a straight fit iirc...?

ok there is 1 thing my m8 did with his mk2 vtr, go to a scrappy, find a mk1 vtr and then take the manifold and down pipe off it, then change them over and put the pre cat lmaba sensor in the downpipe then u will need to buy/make a copper sleeve for the after cat sensor so that it will read clen air...

    There are

Manifold has the cat in it for yours so if you replaced the manifold you could either leave the Cat out or fit it just after the downpipe and before the centre pipe of the exhaust

Jack your car up, stick your head under the car and you'll see

Is the supersprint for the old VTR the one that will fit the new one?
    cheers

supersprint mate, pay extra for build quality (compared to raceland) and its worth i
  12. #12
is there really much difference between gmc and raceland performance wise?

as gmc is 4-1 and raceland is a 4-2-1

^^ but you will still have to relocate the oil filter.

i was speaking to someone the other day and they were sayiong that the oil filter housing from a Renult 5 can replace the mk2 saxo one and then you can fit a mk1 manifold on without having to tap into the block. dont know if this would work though

you wouldnt need to tap into the block anyway, mocal do a filter relocation kit.
and yeah, the R5 filter is shorter so doesnt stick out as far.

i fited a 4-1 manifold to my mk2 vtr i went to the pugeot parts desk and ordered a mk1 filter and the threaded bit that screws into the block and the filter screws onto that above that there is a plug in the front of the block wich you remove to put the oil pressure sensor in and there is a little hole in the block next to the oil filter you just plug that by tapping it and putting a bolt into it i just left the 2nd lambda sensor out my engine light isnt on and the car runs mint goes quite well really

I have the supersprint mani on my mk2 and it clears the oil filter, it doesn't need relocated.
