Whats needed to do a VTS conversion?

    Hi guys, I have a Furio and was just wondering about sticking a VTS lump in it. I know I will need the engine (obviously), loom, ecu. Will i need gearbox, cluth and radiator? How much would this likely to cost me, rough estimates please guys

    kingkarl had his done at gmc and they charged hom £1500 labour to put a vts lump in his 1.1 and change to a vts rear beam and front calipers, he had to provide the bits himself

    Best off to ask on here for a mechanic or someone to help do the conversion for ya like me or user williamsvts as we can do the conversion over a weekend and charge around £400 if u provide the conversion bits

    You've done one before Steve i guess? Not wanting to sound like a prick here but are you knowledgable on all this stuff?

    yeah done a couple of vts conversions and had loads of saxos in peices, i'm a mechanic worked for mercedes for 5 years. give me a pm if u need to know more as not allways on here often so might not see the thread. everything u need to know is pretty much covered in the following thread tho http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=110962

    realy depends how far u are from me and that like if i can travel that far but it would be easyer for me to travel to you then for you to travel to me and have to bring all the bits and engine. like i say if u put a post up u might find someone from where u are or close to you that does the conversion. personally depending how mechanically minded u are i would have a go yourself and save yourself some money as there are loads of us on here to guide u along the way and help u out and if u get stuck all u have to do is take a few pics on ya digi cam and we can point u in the right direction

    Very true matey, I just dunno if i would trust myself with it lol. You don't live all that far away from me anyways, bout 2 hours up the road

    I live in Bournemouth during the holidays - and have just finished doing my 16v conversion.

    Took me 4 days doing it all by myself on my drive, but that was with me running the VTS fuel lines in, dropping the fuel tank, + a bit of engine wiring.

    I'm happy to give you a hand/do it for you depending on when I'm home in Bournemouth (I'm at uni in Loughborough at the moment). I'm back in Bournemouth from March 14th - April 14th, and then again from June 22ndish - July 22nd ish.

    Me and my brother (he's a mechanic at the Porsche centre Ferndown) should be able to get it done over a weekend. Give me a pm if you want a hand/to do it for you.

    Personally - unless your furio is special, and you can get the parts dirt cheap & do the work your self
    It may work out more cost effective to sell the furio - they hold value as lower insurance groupings & buy a proper Vts! Less hasle insurance time!

    Any nice parts from the furio can be swopped over!

    Yeh no problems, just give us a shout nearer the time if you want a hand/do it for you. Just need to make sure you've got the correct Engine + compatible loom, so that it's just plug and play !
