Alternator Problem and No Power Steering

   Hi im new to the site.
   
   I brought a 2000 Vtr for my girlfriend and its got a problem with the alternator.
   
   Its not charging the battery and jst running the battery flat, it also has no power steering, heater fans or heated rear window.
   
   Shes taken it in to a garage and they think it needs a new alternator. But reading up online im gettin the impression its to do with the wiring of the ignition switch.
   
   Anyone got any ideas or had this problem?

   Cheers m8 il try this at the weekend and if its nt that thn il get a new alternator.
