need new gearbox

    ive done a search but cant find the answer im lookin for so wonderin if anyone can help, iv just had a new clutch put in today due to a whining noise but i can still hear the noise, the mechanic said its the gearbox, i dont want to get it reconditioned i want a new or secondhand one, does anyone no where i could get a new one and how much? i can get hold of a 106 quicksilver gearbox is it the same and would it fit? thanx.

    The gearbox will deffo fit mate but the ratios are loads shorter it will go like shit off a stick acceleration wise but i would try to get a vts box mate as the qsilver wont last too long on a vts thats my oppinion but the box will fit because all saxos and 106's use a MA box just the ratios are different

    you can pick one up from a scrappy for about £150-200

    106 quicksilver box will be slightly slower in terms of acceleration that vts box due to slightly higher final drive iirc, it will also have the 'non-sport' gearset that the vts/gti and vtr boxes have. But yes it will fit but use a vts clutch.

    hi i also need a new box for mine some how ive managed to put a hole in my gearbox!!
    i was looking at putting a vts gearbox init but if i do this would i have to change the clutch or would i have to make any modifications to it to get it to fit?

    wilsy etc were getting ones built for £395 too any ratio you want have a word with him i wouldnt buy a new one, but wouldnt get one from a scrappy again!

    get an s2 box one for sale on rallye register atm

    reading above got mine through 247 spares then a scrappy search my past threads for the carry on i had! still never got a VTS box out of them but did get 4 gearboxes which then aided the buy of my rallye box

    erm not really. Some MA boxes use a sports gearset, (all sports models) the gearset is no different only the final drive. Other lower models use different gearsets and a smaller diff
