VT shocks, hubs, brakes, disc rear beam and driveshafts. -
#4plus there are a few brackets inside the engine bay of a vts that arent on a 1.1
so theyd need welding in -
#5hmm not good at welding and not mechanicly minded so this was a project to get some knowledge
-
#6yeah its the upper engine mount from a vts needs to be welding to the iner wing of the 1.1
-
#7got a mate thats shit hot with cars so i willl prob get himinvolved when i do it
-
#8Think about this before you do it mate.Quote:got a mate thats shit hot with cars so i willl prob get himinvolved when i do it
Its gonna cost you at least £1500 to get it all in and complete. Just buy a VTS! Then you dont have the hassel of welding this and that, swapping bits over, hacking at the loom etc...
Not to mention insurance costs when you tell them!! -
#9well i was gona buy myself a wee pug trackcar or do this to keep myself busy over summer.by the looving the pug how wide are those wheels.what can i do to the 1.1 then for more power was thinking of a 1.4 throttle body and manifold got a simota forced induction kit to be fitted any thing else other than speending stpid money on turbo's n that

cheers mate, they are 15" X 9" wide.
With regards to power from the 1.1, all you can really do is breather mods, but tbh its dead money. Your gonna gain what, 5-6bhp from spending about £300 or more...
Do what you said and buy yourself a 205 gti ftw
Much faster and more fun than saxo's!
-
#11tell me bout it i only had a 1.1 for my first car but loved the wee thing i put a custom mazda back box on it it sounded raspy as fuck but i rammed it into the back of the sax and couldnt be assed repairing it wish i had we took a 3 grand loan out to mod it we wurr gona take to ecosse peugeot to get the mi16 put in it a full respray in white and a wide body kit
-
#12Get a 205 gti, stick the mi16 in it, lower it, put some sticky tyres on it and you have a weapon and a half, for very little money!
They are also very easy to work on, and the mi16 is a piece of cake to drop into it. -
#13does it not make it front end heavy cause there originaly for the 405 or the 309 i think
-
#14The mi16 is from the 405, but it has an aluminium block, therefore its not really much heavier than the 8 valve lump.Quote:does it not make it front end heavy cause there originaly for the 405 or the 309 i think
They handle very well, and they can also put the 160 horses down very well cosidering! Thats why its such a popular conversion.
If you wanted to go one better, then the gti-6 is the way forward.
It has 187bhp and comes with a 6 speed box, although you sacrifice a small amount of lock for this box as it is longer than the 5 speeds. -
#15hmm willl prob just try and find a 1.9 there still quick as want to buy it for around 300 then not spend any money on it
