What Camshaft - VTR

   Im after a cam for the VTR 1.6 8v. Dont know alot about these engines, wondered what you people prefere in the 8v, whats best etc. Im not looking for a crazy profile or crazy power as the car is more for handling then speed. It has a 4 branch manifold, full exhaust (de-cat obviously) and im halfway through a port and polished head so a cam is the last thing i want to do and would like to get one before i put the head back on so i can do it all in one hit.

   hey man, sorry to sort of jump in and ask something but when you say full exhaust, what stuff you using? and how many boxes are in it? Reason i ask is because i want to decat my mk2 using a new mani and have a supersprint race centre section with back box already on but i just dont want to screw up and back pressure circumstance etc as i dont really know anything about it. I dont want to lose power if you know what i mean.

   No problem mate, Im using a Sportex manifold from tuning.co.uk and a Ashley cat/manifold back exhaust (centre section with box and rear backbox, so 2 silencers altogether)
   
   The supersprint race centre section doesnt have a box does it? so removing the cat on the manifold all youll have is a rear box? If so then obviously it would be very loud, but as far as back pressure goes i couldnt tell you exact info on if youd loose power or not but personally on N/A cars id always run a centre box for back pressure.
   
   If it was me id fit a manifold and a new centre section maybe, or see how it goes as it is with a manifold

   the question you should be asking is does the supersprint exhaust keep the gas velocity high.........
