Rocker Cover Options

Does anyone know if the 16V VTS rocker covers are the correct sort of metal that can be chrome plated?

I have searched everywhere for them already done (i.e buy them off the shelf already chromed), but i can only find them 'polished'. I know a local company who can provide the chrome plating service but before i approach them i just wondered what peoples experiences are of chrome plating rocker covers?

Why dont you just polish them right up and they will look like chrome.I have heard that it cost a hell of lot to get stuff chrome plated.

If they were chromed they'd never oxidise though.

I'd just ask the company mate, they'll be able to tell ya.

Lacquer will flake at some point though as the cam covers too smooth.

I asked the paint shop guys at work...

Theres always chrome effect paint but I'm not sure on what kinda finish you get...

Thanks for the replies everyone – Think I will go for something else then if Chrome is going to be problematic / not possible.

Trying to decide whether to go for black powder coated or get them PROFESSIONALLY sprayed to match the colour of the car (posi blue). To see why I wrote professional in capitals, take a look at my project thread (link in my sig) – firstly the colour doesn’t match the car and secondly it’s tatty and flaking off etc – horrible! And just for the record, I bought the car like it, I would never do that to them lol

This post was a duplicate of the above - not sure how that happened!?

Yup, best thing to keep them looking shiny. Just if you remember to polish them that is!

The way the weather is at the minute its hard enough to wash the car without thinking on to Autosol the cam covers too.
