Rev counter - Diagnostic Socket

  1. #1
Right, this is a pretty commonly asked question it seems, but i havnt found the answer yet.

Basically, fitting my rev counter...i know where everything goes, but the pulse wire. I know its a grey wire on the back of the diagnostic plug, iv found the plug, but i cant get the thing out to take a better look at it.

I intend to get a wiring diagram from the haynes manual to identify which wire it is, but its hard to work under the dash.

SO does anyone know how to remove this plug? and to save me time, which wire it is? does it have a number on it or something?

    Rep for any help

    cheers

I'm sure you twist the plug and slowly pull it out, but there isn't much room there anyway. Also the plug will have numbers on so that you can tell which wire, sorry though I'm not sure which number it is!

cheers for that mate, but i think the diagnostic one isnt round, it looks like a scart plug, it doesnt seem to be held in much, but cant get the damn thing out

    so...bump bump

it should just be clipped in mate if i remember

get down under the dash with a torch see if you can see

this should give a better idea

thats what i cant get out, the tab on the left hand side doesnt seem to want to push back so i can slide the plug down.

thats the wires comingout the back, its one of them, but without getting the whole plug out it makes it harder to find which one.

Instead of pulling the whole plug out, just push the wire into the front of the socket, i know that wont be a desent way of connecting it, but if u really cant get the plug out it might do

I can't believe you lot find it hard to disconnect the diagnostic socket? You must be blind lol. Just get some long nose pliers, looking from the front of it now, on the left of the plug there is a little plasitic clip thing thats keeping it in.
Squeeze this and push the plug towards the engine. Diagnostic plug is not available to drop down below the dash....How hard can it be haha!!
