the saxo was RR'd today

136.9hp at the fly, which is clearly rubbish... but pay close attention to the wheel power... 98.9 hp, which is about right for a good running standard VTS

Magnex BB... I can assure you it is a Magnex backbox in the pic lol. Lee has kindly offered to give me his Magnex centre section too... woooo

Lee_VTR1 very kindly gave me his Magnex centre section so I took a quick trip to Nuneaton to catch up with Alex, Lee, Willsy and Aaron to get the Centre Section and Back box fitted

Whilst I was there Alex sold me his Powerflex lower engine mount... so so so much better than standard it rocks.

So theoretical fly power has remained the same, still wrong imo. But wheel power has risen to 104.1... so around 5 hp increase. I presume manifold contributed more to that than backbox. But all in all, good stuff!

Old injectors, sent to injectortune...

This is how they came back... Amazing.

Report from the cleaning cycle:

turns out that they were roughly around 93% of max... so back up to max they've gained roughly 7.5% more flow than previously.

It's got morettes on the front... which I didn't like but they're starting to grow on me massively

well the derv machine would still be here if it had been a tad more reliable. engine was and still is great but everything else was causing me issues

he will do, but it could take forever getting them switched over, i need the trims before I can start the swapping process... he lives in london, the car will be based in northallerton all garaged up, the trims are in private storage somewhere so that could be an arse... then I've got to get the wiring sorted... again an arse... could take a long timeeeeeee

Id keep the lights and use two of the pods as induction holes, always thought that looked cool and its obviously a great cold air feed too. Would look mint lowered on anthracite VTS rims with std front lights, but its not different atall. But if your not after that thats cool. Look forward to seeing where you go with it mate

dropping the main beam for cold air feeds imo isnt exactly great for a road car.

espec as saxo lights are not exactly great anyway

i would big mouth the lower bumper, mesh grill, ditch fog lights and mesh, strip interior, add some buckets, then add bmc, 708s, get a remap, fit catch tank, get some group n engine mounts, some group n billies, faulkner springs, xsi diff box with a quaiffe (for you ryan

) then look at standalone ecu, maybe some gti6 brakes as well, what about some chronos with r888s? waits for someone to say nah thats shit

angels... ummm something about them I don't like. If the headlight angle motor can be attached so you retain full functionality then maybe I'd consider them, but not sure that's even possible.

Looks decent to be honest. I wouldnt change much at all. Maybe do the lights in the darker grey rather than silver. Just make sure its mechanically spot on then go from there.

That's the next thing to worry about... I have 8 VTS rims now, so I'm going to select the best four, shot and powder coated and boshed on to the car. Not sure on colour yet though

I'm actually starting to like the lights now dude lol Well she was insured on my old car and as I just switched the policy over for the vts, mother sayer remained on it. right just been fixing a few things over the last couple of days and adding a few touches here and there.

JBL comps installed
Pioneer rear co-axials installed
All front bulbs H1, H7, 501's and 581's replaced
Indicator Stalk replaced
NS ball joint replaced
NS rear light cluster replaced
OS Mainbeam optic replaced - not a cheap part

Alternator Belt replaced

Car is booked in for wide mouth. Has a massive patch where the '16v' badge go on the NS where part of lacquer has come off so I'll be getting that seen to asap.

needs some TLC but it's getting there, ordered a 25mm Apex Lowering kit inc dampers too.
oh and S rims are going in for a powder coating.

wait... oh yeah when Yates, Viper and I went to High Force the left side started crackling and forcing the headunit to cut power to all the speakers...

checked behind the left mid-woofer and it turned out the ground line and come loose and kept touching the chassis (hence the crackling), just patched it up with some extra solder and selotape

no joke it took me BLADDDY ages to install the components, I'd done them before on my ol' 5-door but for some reason the cold must have got to me so it took a good 4 hours.

the rear speakers.... holy hell... didn't realise I'd have to rip up most of the rear and the entire trim to get access to them

(stupid damn 3-doors) that said it was worth it and I don't care what any of the pro's say, having a good set of rear speakers is well worth taking the time to install.

Tweeters are located on the wing mirror covers, the crossovers are in the back door bins although in a corner so they can still be used. Although there is enough space behind the door card itself to located the crossovers themselves if you're not happy about them being in the bins man

EDIT: depends on the size of the crossovers though!

Theres a vertical metal strip that runs down the inside of the door itself, i'm gonna have a bash at sticking the crossover to that in the morning, failing that it'll have to go on the rear of the doorcard somewhere, the lip below the doors grab handle probably!

cornering to the left seems to make the car resonate madly at about 3k and 6k rpm. As does letting off throttle from high revs. sounds like its coming from around the centre section - now I know this was replaced by KwikFit just before I bought the car and when I took the car to be inspected after I'd bought it the mechanic said he'd had a go at adjusting it because it was in contact with the heat sheilf, so my guess is it's back in it's original (and wrong) position

ah heatshield grumblings, a common fault tbh! heard it many a time! yes queer fit fitters are amongst the thickest.

adjustment to the middle hanger should in theory sort it as it will cause the biggest movement.

offside is long shaft iirc

cunts to change the otherdise short shaft is a 30min -1hour job.

could allways be the top mount bearings btw the ping that or droplinks

have you replaced the entire speaker wiring as well man? Was looking at the O-Cu-Free stuff the other day but couldn't quite justify the time and the expense really for my low budget setup. What setup are you running?

tbh the most time took was with the dynaMat stuff... Halfords are practically giving it away at the moment so bought a couple of sheets

its common for the top mount bearings to bang from alot of reports, my old vtr used to clunk and bang low speed near full lock in roundabouts etc...

Yeh, i have no sound proofing atm

I redone the speaker wiring from HU to Door ages ago when i fitted some kenwood speakers, same tme i made the tweeter mounts actually, but it turned out they werent comps so i never used em.

I'm gonna redo the whole crossover to HU wiring at somepoint, same time i dynamat it maybe... It will bug me if i dont! In the pic there i've just used some extra speaker wire to get from the crossover to where the current speaker wire would have met the speaker in the standard setup.

P.S. parents are staying with relatives up north tonight, kitchen will be spotless again before i leave in the morning lol.

Good stuff Ads. Definitely a result on the rollers. Standard cars seemed to make pretty close to standard figures, so I wouldn't doubt your results too much.

cheers gang! I have on and off days with the morettes. I'm conscious of the fact mine will get dangerously close to yates example so I'm keep the morettes just to be different, even if they look a bit gash... but I'll probably get the inner bit paint black or EZD grey.

Awesome! (and a bit late lol). The wheels are currently being done Arctic Steel Silver (same silver as the top half of my car) - hopefully hi power silver enough because they look shweet

Really happy with the wheel figure, just the fly figure is just too high to be believable... but the good thing is that the two other standard 1.6 16v cars that were there also got the same figure... so at least the figure is reliable (if not quite right). good meeting you man!

the rims are a defo issue man, whoever painted them originally needs shooting... they'll be coming off and probably powdercoating as well in anthracite maybe or some other colour towards the end of the year. I'm tempted by very lightly smoked tints but won't be for a while either.

V-power, 400 miles on average, very gentle warm ups then normal driving thereafter with occasional blasts around town and 75mph average on the motorway + occasional blasts.

500 miles is dooable I reckon if I could be arsed to try.

mmmmm maybe paint the recessed bit anth like bottom half of the car and colour code the grill silver with black slate's and black chevrons.

with the 25mm drop and the anth S wheels its going to need something different up front.

but hey im a tad of a style whore dude

keep up the good work sayer and nice pulling power on the motorway too aha i liked that.

Honestly I'm not out to set MPG records with the car but it's good to keep track anyway just incase the engine starts going shit. Regardless, I was filling my pants at the prospect of shit mpg according to members on here when I bought the car - they clearly can't drive or can't add up as its pretty good on fuel, as I've found

I'll admit that I actually decided to wash 'the hair' that morning so it was looking silky smooth and feminine

soooo glad you said that actually mate, as the car is going in for a wide mouth, debadging and lower coding of the morettes during april (at least someone is thinking along the same lines as meee

)

Could be driving conditions you have though mate. My runs tend to be 1 hour+, 75% Motorway, 25% Town and B-roads. So I've got the roads on my side tbh

Only ran the car on normal fuel when I bought it and it's been v-power ever since, so not sure how much of an effect it'll have tbh!

Induction, I'm open (pun). I don't want a BMC after some not so impressive figures/reviews. I really fancy a cotton panel filter, but that intake ducting needs a SERIOUS fiddle first. The pressure drop along that will be horrendous... I'm expecting good gains just from sorting that out more so than actual filter change. And I think that might explain why so many claim an open induction makes the car more responsive... not the filter itself but probably because it only has a single bend in the intake before the TB...

Do people rate the Raceland-Green Enclosed then??
