from reading the link below, sounds as if you should see a slight increase in performance but need to make the blanking plate

i made a blanking plate for the head i put on. not much of a job really just got some alloy plate and bolted it to the holes already on the head. make sure you use some good high temp sealant though!

The thing you're talking about is actualy a fresh air pump that puts fresh air in to the exhaust side of the head and afaik is something to do with emissions and the CAT.

I removed mine and apart from weight save it made no difference to peformance. If you have a de-cat then you may as well take it off and save a few kg's from the front end, else it's probs best left on!

i just lodged a penny in min and sealed it up, its done the trick for over a year now.

cant say i noticed a difference, with having it removed or weight that was saved from removing all the shite lol

i noticed that, mine also makes a small hickup at the point in which the egr would switch off (ie when the noise when away after start up) lol

i made my own planking plate, its rough around the edges but does the job.
Tempted to put my egr valve back on if anything.

    lol, why?

no need for them, dont have them on the Mk1s.

dosnt effect anything on your car.
will make it a wee bit lighter for you to grab a few tenths on your ring trip

    ??
it only works during the first few mins of start up, or so im led to believe?

you can actually hear it switch off a few mins after start up if you leave the car ticking over

works for about 10 seconds on startup, for emission regs in certain countries. not and egr valve.
