Air filter / Induction kit...Is it a problem?

    Right i bought a pipercross cone filter off a user on here for my 1.1 (the filter is in almost perfect nick so no problem with that), think its ment for a vtr/s but it fits fine, ive not connected the oil breather to it as ive put a seperate filter on the oil breather. but the car sounds a million times louder (everything else is standard; mani, backbox etc). when driving its alot louder than my mates and hes got both an air filter and full exhaust system. and im talking really really loud, cant hear the passanger speaking inside the car at 4000rpm. why is this happenening? surely cant be right. when i fit a new exhaust it will be deafening

    cause a pipercross open filter is silly load

    Humm thats wierd does the noise sound the way an induction kit should do? or you just get general loud engine noise, maybe its not sealed properly?

    The way your saying it, no way could that just be of the filter, iv had 1 bfore on my 1.4, wasnt louder at all, u sure your exhaust hasnt decided just to blow somewer in the system :s LOL

    thats what i was finkin, sure you havent snapped your exhaust or something

    check for snaps and leaks
    i got a piperx on mine and tbh it was really loud when i got it
    seems its quietned now
    or maybe i just got used to it

    piperx open are loud and like you said it seems to have quietened down but thats porbably jus me getting deafer lol

    my piperx was really loud, especially between about 3500- 4500 rpm

    probly the loudest incution noise ive had from any kit in any car tbh

    orite cheers for the comments, checked my exhaust the backbox is blowing abit, hole is tiny though, fitted standard filter back on and sounded back to normal, guess its jsut combination of filter and exhaust.
