did you take off one or both bolts?

why did you undo the caliper? there fixed brake pipes so you have bent it out of shape i normaly remove the 2 bolts on the side of the caliper and remove the carrier that holds the pads.

yeah the piston is back in suppose i could try getting it in abit more but dont see how thats stopping it reaching because the pad on the outside is against the disk and carrier so there isent anymore room to get out of it, i did try putting the new pads on the old disk too still didnt reach. its so strange

iv found out what it was. the caliper actually moves side to side and it was on the inside of the car so i just hammered it towards the outside and it reaches and is now all sorted cheers for advice tho guys

Just for info - i just had the exact same problem but a hammer wouldnt shift it - it seemed to be properly seized. I even used a couple of clamps but that didnt work either.

I ended up loosening both bolts that hold the calliper to the trailng arm and that seemed to loosen up the calliper so it would move freely again.

I was then able to adjust the position of the calliper so there was plenty of room either side of the disc to fit the pads
