best induction kit for vtr?

    What would see say from your own experience was overall the best?

    taking into account sound, performance and price.

    Either Raceland with Green or the Simota IMO. If you just after performance with no worries about sound or price, go BMC.

    I would recommend the pipercross viper. Most people dont rate them but i really do, if fitted correctly can give a better throttle response but doesnt have the sound of an open filter obviously.

    my mate has one of them on his c2 1.1

    makes a nice grunt when in high revs.

    you can see the difference a little too.

    he paied 170 i think

    Yer you can notice that little difference not much at all but every little helps hey . Keep an eye out on here mate you will be able to pick one up second hand for around 50-70ish just make sure you get the right one for your car. Ill upload a pic how i have fitted mine soon.

    Lol I did that on my 1.1, Worked a treat actually with a K&N element upgrade. And a cold air feed to it.

    On my VTR atm I'm using a Raceland enclosed Works quite well actually

    Uprated panel filter and re-routed cold feed pipe seems to be the best judging from other peoples comments on here, personally I can't comment on this as I have never done it or witnessed it. I use a BMC carbon enclosed filter as I was told a long time ago that this was a good one to go for.

    Would be the cheapest as well.

    Yeah most of the engines have a restricted air pipe into the OEM airbox, simply remove it and put a nice feed to it Just like an enclosed without any sensors moving etc

    I wana get an induction on my new VTR, has a stainless exhaust atm, so i dont want the induction kit to make much sound atall, just performance

    Standard air box with green cotton panel filter.

    It will sound silly but i polished up the inside of the air intake and smoothed it out as much as possible. Also removed the resonator box that you will find attached to the bottom of the airbox and plastic welded the hole up. Again i know it will sound silly but all these little differences cost hardly anything to do, not to mention the panel filter being alot cheaper than an enclosed filter and they add up to make a difference.

    I have done all of the above and noticed a nice gain higher up the rev range.

    I did this on my 98bhp Y reg vtr and im not totally sure if the 90bhp vtr's have the resonator box attached to their air intake as they have a cylindrical filter instead of flat panel one.

    Basically the less restrictive you can make the standard air intake the better.

    Dude, exactly what i did!
    People have been known to drill holes in the side of the box facing away from the exhaust just for a bit more induction noise.... if that's your sort of thing.

    Anyone actually compared the difference between a properly sorted standard box and an enclosed filter? power gains/differences etc?
