also be carefull as the bottom brackets on the headlights seem to bend in the heat of the oven so make sure they havent bent over when you take out

Hmm well I don't suppose you wanna sell me the black plastic inserts you have sprayed for cheap?

I could just whack em in mine without the hassle of spraying if you'd be willing to

cheers for the offer but think i am going to keep them and try to butchers the clip thing back on if possible
  11. #11
    Fair enough

How easy did you find it to do mate coz ive been a bit curious about trying this myself too and the weather has been nice around here too
  12. #12
second that i really want to do mine but im not allowed to use the oven, and i dont know how else
  13. #13
Is oven only needed to reseal the lights back together or is it essential for the painting also?

you need the oven to separate the glass and to reseal it together didnt use the oven for drying the paint, its only messy when you pull the light apart so once done in the oven just take outside and do it when parents are out lol

my mum works from home so i cant

  17. #17
Ah yeah id be fine doing that in my oven, just do it when my mums at work haha

How easy were they to spray im not very experience with spraying, did you just evenly spray the entire plastic then leave it to dry?
  18. #18
yea im not the best sprayer either just even coat of primer leave 15mins do again three times and same with the paint doesnt have to be the best because you wont been seeing it up close really

    Use a hairdryer mate.

Lots of people have done it this way, usually those with open flame cookers.

  26. #26
im sure ive seen a guide to this around here somewhere
  27. #27
this is an old thread and yea there is a guide
  28. #28
use a hairdryer instead?? i put mine in the oven but a hairdryer would work as well if you cant use the oven.
  29. #29
Tape the bulb in place behind it then surely?
  30. #30
i used a hair dryer on three different sets i prefer it to the oven because i know ill cook the light. and easyer using hair dryer because the light wont be too hot to handle.

The oven is a very bad idea. All of those glue fumes will remain in the oven which won't be nice when it comes to cooking food.
  32. #32
Do you just aim the hairdryer at the centre or do you need to keep moving it round the edges bit by bit?

tape the bulb in place? surely thats isnt going to pass an mot or be secured into place correctly? and it doesnt leave and mess/smell in the oven but if you still insist on using hairdryer just work it round the edges bit by bit using some sort of tool to prise the glass away from plastic

    what a barstud!!.
done mine today and they look the bomb. i didnt use the oven i sused the mrs. hairdryer. 10 minutes on each and the lens was off , with a bit of pulling apart.
