Bike Throttle Bodies for VTR

#2suzuki gsxr 750-1000 k1,k2,k3 i think, the rallye forum has a bit more info about them
-
#3If your thinking about this its also worth looking at a standard DCOE format body on a GMC manifold. Many have found them to be superior and depending how much you are doing your self and what used parts you get hold of can work out similar money.
-
#4is it worth fitting s1 mani?? ive got one and will try one day but like to know whats the best inlet for vtr?? any links?? and more about throttle bodies please... thanks for reply
-
#5you cant use an s1 rallye inlet and bodies together. you need one or the other.
Bodies use a custom made manifold which bolt to the head. yamaha r6 bodies are good for a vtr.
Ive used them on several vts engine which they have proved to be quite good
you would be looking around
£3-400 for the bike bodies set up
£500 on ecu
£450 having it mapped

-
#6The rallye inlet will only fit the 90bhp (1 plug) vtr engine, if you've got the 98bhp (3 plug) engine then it won't fit.
-
#7tom whats it like wiring the sensors etc for the set up? looking into this myself for my vtr? is it a pain or is it pretty simple?
-
#8ive got 90bhp vtr so perfect for s1 mani, will try that first and will get bodies setup after,
thanks -
#9Looked into the s1 inlet myself for my westcoast, it will work with standard ecu but for any decent gains a remap is best.
There's a guide here:

#10i will have full engine rebuild +kent cam, gas flow head, lightened and balanced fly wheel.... and a bit more, will post some picks soon
-
#11P.O.P mate ever so easy. 6wires and then get it mappedQuote:tom whats it like wiring the sensors etc for the set up? looking into this myself for my vtr? is it a pain or is it pretty simple?
need to wire up
injectors:
Injectors Live
Injectors 1&4
Injectors 2&3
throttle positions sensor
Live
In
Out
easy peasy -
#12cheer mate i really appreciate it, looking into it diy myself and was thinking about how it would work, didnt think it would be to hard as a body set up is just a replacent inlet isnt it so theres not to much to go wrong, any one got a wiring guide? think itl be part of my progress thread when my car gets rebuilt
-
#13yer its easy as pie, if you can get an inlet which uses the standard fuel rail and injectors you will only have the 3 wires of the throttle possition sensor to wire up.
-
#14What are bike bodies like on a vts? I would love bodies but abit too expensive for the proper ones lol. I was going to buy some r6 bodies a while ago for the vtr engine. But now getting a vts engine put in.
-
#15well oversized r6 bike bodies on my old vts with ph4 cams, headwork, high comp pistons, breathing mods etc etc was awesome had some great power figures from that engine.
my r6 bodies were oversized to 42mm instead of 36 or 38mm and it made hell of a difference
great noise, great power, easy to fit, cheap to buy cant fault them -
#16What sort of power were you running? Is there much difference in power with bike and normal bodies? What sort of price would be looking at for same setup cams, bodies and a map? and power?
-
#17vtr injectors arent on the inlet anyway.... will have to look into this further, shouldnt be too much of a task to fabricate somthing once i get a bit more knowledge on the task at hand, cheers mate muchly helpfulQuote:yer its easy as pie, if you can get an inlet which uses the standard fuel rail and injectors you will only have the 3 wires of the throttle possition sensor to wire up.
-
#18erm well for me not really as i had oversized r6's but normal bike bodies are much smaller than the likes of jenvy and kms. so the bike bodies wouldnt be able to create the same sort of power figures.Quote:What sort of power were you running? Is there much difference in power with bike and normal bodies? What sort of price would be looking at for same setup cams, bodies and a map? and power?
r6 bodies and manifold or similar £300
cams £300
ecu £500
remap £400
£1500 set up and mapped around 160-170 possibly
sorry mate thinking about vts injectors -
#19hey, thinking of puttin some bike bodies on my mk2 vtr, anyone now which bodies are good, what would i do about the wiring aswel
has any one got a 3plug engine wiring loom for a vts
cheers joe -

http://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tunin...6-16v-vts.html
i had jenveys but only paid £350 second hand for them
cam

ecu
emerald

-predator £500 ish
i paid £270 for my remap at northampton motorsport (which is about what they charge everyone)
also you gotta remember with 8vs youll need a h/g kit as the head has to come off for a cam change, 8vs dont have an adjustable pulley like vts's, so to get the best out of the set up a new vernier pulley is in order, then add on what ever serviceable parts youll need
will be pretty hard to find bodies/cams second hand for 8vs as no one really tunes them in terms of natural aspiration, if you had a vts it would be much easier to source cheaper parts
if you want wilder cams then high comp pistons, arp bolts would be needed along with pretty much a full on engine rebuild
