rusty brake pads

due for an MOT on the VTR next week and i noticed the paint is peeling off my brake pads and it looks rusty underneath!

obviously they need replacing lol but still have enough stopping power atm. anyone know i'll fail the MOT for the pads being in that condition?

they look quite worn, mine went thought no prob last week with breaks that were getting on abit. rust ain't a problem, as they rust when your cars standing for a period of time. see them all the time on four-court cars

just a bit of surface rust mate, shouldnt be a prob

the backing of the pad is metal just flake it off and dig a scredriver in, very much doubt they will have rotted the metal away tbh

If in any doubt,. just get new pads, they cheap as for standards

Give it a squirt of brake cleaner to clean the face, if that doesnt help it might be pitted which mean it will fail, look for any cracks on the face, that sometimes fail the cars MOT, just take off the disc and see if it is pitted at the back of the disc, then if they r bad just replace cos ull nedd the stopping powe. hope this helps
