Well my engine was running like a bag of shit on the vtr and i soon realised it was firing on three cylinders, So i got down to business took the rail off to inspect the plugs and found that one had come out! so i presumed and bought four brand new plugs screwed in three then found out that the last numpty who had put in the previous spark plug had managed to strip the threads on it hence it becoming loose, The question I ask is how am i going to set about fitting this plug? Do i have to take it all apart and re drill it? Or is there an easier ( bodge ) option? Any answers welcome and i need this info urgently as i have no car to run otherwise
Cheers. X

#2Could try and re-tap to clean up the threads, or will need a heli coil or another head
-
#3Cheers raunchz, I was considering the heli coil but not seen them around since years.

#4heli-coils are still about and will be your best option.
-
#5only problem i can see helicoiling or re taping is wont crap fall in to the barrel and potently damage the barrel

#6Had this problem with a fiesta I had and had to helicoil.
The garage I took it too used a hoover with extra small pipe to clean up, not sure how well that worked though. -
#8seen this done before. they make the existing hole larger to fit an insert in and then tap it to the right size for the spark plug so you have a perfect hole again. prob depends on how bad yours is relly.

#10You can get them off ebay for like £20 not too bad really, four new spark plugs for a 10er yesterday too not too bad.
