adjusting rear height, quick easy question

  1. #1
Im getting my mechanic to lower my car this coming monday and I need to know for sure what height each click of the rear setup lowers the car by?

    Ive been told 25mm?

Also if anyone could point me in the direction of a guide or a quick explaination as to what needs to be done that would be great!

    Cheers guys

clicks? Is this for a VTS? You need springs, I think.

yeah its a vts but is the same for all saxo's iirc, i just need to know about the rear.
The front is pretty self explanitary and I already have all the springs and dampers.
-25mm front and rear full kit, not that it makes any difference i dont think?

Doing it by clicks is the wrong way... I'd do it properly, or wouldn't bother tbh.

hows that? i want to do it properly but dont know what that is!?

A single click is about 30mm, but doing it that way will eventually ruin your beam.

Do it this way. There's also another good guide on Rallye Reg, written by Sandy Brown I think.

hi m8, clicks on the saxo is the wrong way, you want to measure it properly so you get the exact hight you want, how much is it costing you to get done, if its an hourly charge they can take some time to free up

im not too sure how much he is charging me tbh! i might get the front done and get the new rear dampers fitted and see what it looks like as the back is already lower than normal with my stereo weight!

ive been quoted by someone else £108+ vat but wanted my mechanic to do it as i trust him and he does everything else to my car mechanical.

    is £108 + vat a good quote?

not many places do it down here now, but 108 is a good price imo, 150 is the usual price i have sin, if u hav any trouble, i have lowered a few now, and am close, see what your mechanic says first, where is it you get yours done if ye dont mind me asking. pm me if you like

it'd be intresting to know for a lot of members, what are the ways of telling if your cars been lowerd by clicks!?

Not really a way of telling really. I suppose if you were to alter the height, and one end of the torsion bar comes out easy, and the other size is not moving when you hit it hard then potentially has been lowered using the clicks.

Also, if you rear trailing arm bearings were to go quickly after being lowered the might hint at this (I don't think they'd go that quickly though)

    follow an guide and d.i.y.

Clicks/notch method is a bad way to lower, will reduce the life of your rear beam
  18. #18
DO NOT lower your rear beam by the clicks/notches method as it will fu*k iy up...
  19. #19
tbh, if a beams gonna fail then it will. anything that disturbs the bearings will increase the chance of it happening quicker.
but i'd look out for somwhere that knows exactuly how to do it the proper accurate method and go there, post in your regional section to see if anyone knows the best place

    cheers for your replies guys!
Think Ive decided to get my local mechanic to do the front end and fit the new rear dampers and take it to somewhere that has done the rear loads to get it finished off
