hello i was wondering what a quick shifter does, and does it help performance.i was also wondering are they hard to fit as when i look on the internet they look complacted to fit.many thanks

#2easy to fit, and all they do is reduce the distance you have to move the gear stick when changing gear.

#3i think a quickshift is a new gear linkage instead of a stantard 1 the quickshift should help u change gears quicker and handle the power of quick changes
when i was giving it some to my saxo n quick shiffting my gearlinkage went
so the quickshift should be able to handle quick shiffitng -
#4REMOVE THE EXISTING GEAR STICK HOUSING BY UNDOING THE 4 BOLTS AND UNSCREW THE GEAR KNOB AND REPLACE THE NEW HOUSING SUPPLIED IN REVERSE ORDER.
PUT THE COLLARS ( SUPPLIED WITH GRUB SCREWS) ON EITHER SIDE OF THE BEARING.
REPLACE THE GEAR KNOB.
THE HIGHER UP THE GEAR STICK YOU HAVE THE COLLARS WILL DETERMIN THE AMOUNT OF THROW YOU LIKE THE LOWER DOWN YOU PUT THE COLLARS THE GREATER THE THROW.
ADJUST THE DESIRED POSITION AND TIGHTEN THE 5mm GRUB SCREWS AND ROAD TEST.
it can be adjusted to achieve high speed gear changes.
The reduction can be easily set to have the desired feel of a closer gear change. (up to 60%)
thats all it dose it dont increase performance just learn how to change gear fast save ya 60 pound -

#6Depends on what kind of quick shift you get. One I got just connects to the gear linkage, reduced the gear throw by quite a bit. I recommend the Griffiths Engineering ones which are only £20 and worth every penny if you don't want to spent that much on one unless you want to spend loads on like a B&M one.

#8I didn't fit mine myself as I took my car to a garage to have a new clutch fitted and asked them to fit it whilst they was working on it. I presume its easy enough though.Quote:was it easy to fit mate???

#15ive got a griffiths quickshift, race linkages and a compbrake quickshift one mine and has made the gearchange more positive, bought 60-70%shorter with no slack/play at all, hell of a difference and makes it so much nicer to drive! no one1 like a sloppy gear knob!!!

#16a slick, smooth shift with the standard parts is better than a fluffed one with a quickshift
The shorter throw does take time to get used to and if you keep fluffing changes because you are rushing it's not good for the gearbox -
