what would i need to be able to put a peugeot 406 coupe engine into a saxo?
anyone done this that could give me some help if i was to do this conversion?
    Many Thanks Kris
(This is just an idea for now as atm i wouldnt even be able to afford to run this engine let alone the insurance costs etc)

Search mate its been covered many times before.

Basically its doable, but will cost a fuck load of money, youll need custom driveshafts, engine mounts, work on the shell to get the gearbox to fit, and it will handle like a dog.

    deep pockets mate lol

Jesus Christ, use the search button and stop asking stupid questions. I cant believe how much shit like this is asked its just pointless you will never do it so why ask the question?

    Absolutely.

It will be a bag of shit to drive anyway. For the money it would cost to actually do it and the hassle and stress involved you might as well sell your vtr, buy a vts, and spend what money you would have spent on the 406 engine conversion on tuning the vts engine.

    the 3.0 v6 completely fills a 306 bay
it pysically would not fit in the front of a saxo

put it in the boot tbh

Wouldn't handle shit I should think....the V6 lump is all alloy and AFAIK doesn't weigh much more than a VTS engine.

Could/should it be done? Absoloutely fuck no. Leave putting stupidly big engines in little cars when a smaller more balanced unit would drive much better to the VW boys and their Polos with crappy VR6 lumps.

put thast lump next to a vts and tell me they dont weigh much more? are you for real lmao, by the time you get evrything in fitted and needed for it to run i a saxo your looking at a hell of a lot more weight spread over a bigger area ov a smaller car and tellin ppl it wont handle like shit?

The overall weight of the V6 ain't alot more than a VTS lump. The VTS lump has an iron block doesn't it? V6 is all alloy....alloy being lighter than iron. And as for all the fitted gear...depends what box you run. Go and fit the ML box as a 406 would have and yeah it'll be heavy as fuck, but adapt something smaller to fit and it may not.

It's a pointless argument because physically fitting an ES V6 lump in the front of a Paxo would be like trying to break in a high school virgin with a traffic cone.

    can be done.

if, you have a year or so to customise it (tinkering most weekends and nights)
if you have a couple of grand spare change.

Failing that buy a 406 coupe

can be done but is extremley pointless i had a corsa with a 2.0 redtop engine and was nose heavy and horrible to drive

I drove a redtop for about 2 days.. couldn't wait to get out of the death trap, not slating all of them but unless there well set up with custom springs ect then I would never step foot in one

The V6 might fit if you strip most parts off and run it on throttlebodies, but I would say bulkhead cutting, a shallower sump and a hump in the bonnet may be required. Cheaper to fit in the back..
If it can be done you will get a good sense of achievement for success but its a lot of work and there would be a lot of trial and error. Suspension points may need to be altered as the v6 is not heavy, but it sits further forward than the TU and XU engines. Polar rotational inertia will increase so some thought into weight distribution and suspension damper/spring rates will be needed. To create some room I would plumb the radiator into the boot, box it out and have some airducts. A bit like the rallycross cars.

Actually sounds like a fun project to try though i've got my hands full already...maybe for the next one...

eh...custom springs? no wonder..I sat in my neighbour's c20xe corsa and I was shocked at how quick and sharp it was in the corners.

I'm surprised the 20vt hasnt been fitted to a saxo/106 already by now, the Clio/R5 boys have been doing it years.

Also on a side note, punctuation would make your post much easier to read.
