#4Does look a little high...
-
#5After he lowerd it, and it came off the ramp. I said are you sure thats 40mm? and he said "yeh you can tweek it abit aswell from doing somthing with the dampers"
How do you tweek it to lower it a tad more? Cheers. -
#6front springs will take a week or so to sit right
get some proper wheels lol -
#7I cant see that 'tweeking' with the dampers will drop it another 10mm lol
-
#8Nah but anything atall would look better, 1mm
hahaa. Nah but seriously it anything atall to make it slightly lower
-
#10Lol. Unless you have coilovers fitted, which you dont i assume, you wont be able to adjust the ride height.Quote:After he lowerd it, and it came off the ramp. I said are you sure thats 40mm? and he said "yeh you can tweek it abit aswell from doing somthing with the dampers"

If it was a full kit fitted ie new springs and dampers then depending on the kit you have it may be adjustable in rebound/compression simultaneously or individually. Most kits are simultaneously adjusted though or even just adjustable in terms of compression i think. More expensive kits allow you to do one or the other or both depending on how your trying to set it up.
Your kit probably isnt adjustable at all though.
Its worth remembering that a newly lowered car on new springs and shocks will take a few hundred miles (sometimes more) to adust to the ride height it will sit at permanently. Depending on how old the picture you have taken is, you may have already noticed a small difference. Even when settled your probably only talking a bedded in drop of about 5mm more. -
#13I got it lowerd about 3-4 weeks ago and that picture was taken on saturday
-
#14Also i've noticed a squeeking noise aswell since the rear was lowerd. Any ideas what it could be? When i go over bumps it squeeks
-
#15tbh thats what 40mm looks like, anyway if you go lower and u will have to spend £££ for it get half decent handling. sub in the boot will probalby get another 10mm haha.
-
#16You want it about this low at the front right?

Thats 50mm. -
#17Sounds strange but it might be the suspension coil on the front. Mine does this too. Just got to put some grease on it and see if it stopsQuote:Also i've noticed a squeeking noise aswell since the rear was lowerd. Any ideas what it could be? When i go over bumps it squeeks
-
#18what springs/dampers did you use?
-
#19origional dampers mite be nakerd since you lowered it without uprating the dampers, or he mite of had blow torch on your rear beam when lowering the rear and fucked the little rubber seals up that protect your bearing thingmajingy and now they have rusted and filled with crap so now you need a reconditioned rear axle.
-
#20Spax 40mm front springs and the damers at the back are originals. Should i get some new dampers?

How much is one of these worth then?
-
#21Yeh i'll be geting a sub and amp soon anyway so thats ok. didnt think of that mate.Quote:tbh thats what 40mm looks like, anyway if you go lower and u will have to spend £££ for it get half decent handling. sub in the boot will probalby get another 10mm haha.
Yeh mate, wish i did 50mm now -
#22moxy's car is doen 40mm and looks lower than yours?
Mine is lowered about the same as yours and it handles superb - you want it lower? -
#23Yeh the handleing is amazin mate. but for the looks i still think it doesnt look lowerd. If somone just looked at it they would probs just think its standard height
-
#25fuck sake. nah i aint paying that i'll deal with the squeeking
-
#26I can fit a rear axle for you in a few hours if need be.
-
#27who done it for you mate?
-
#28Kam racing informed me that the apex and spax springs will lower the VT models (VTR VTS) 10mm less than stated. This is because the VT models are all ready lowered 10mm compared to the other saxo models (C2, Furio). Kam racing confirmed for me that the 50mm Apex kit (Springs and dampers) will actually lower my car 40mm.
This would explain why yours looks at tad high still. Before you all jump at me it must be said i found this out because i was looking into buying the full apex kit, the rules maybe slightly different when your just buying springs, but anyhow its another thing to look into. -
#29Yeh your probs right tbh. wot a joke, i should of gone 50!
-
#30with the sate ofthe roads in some places 40mm is agood hight

but as said dont go lower on the back and go for the whole speed boat look, and even with a sub and spare wheel, if we take ours out the hight dont change
-
#31Looking at that picture (baring in mind that photos can be deceptive) it only looks to be about 30mm on the rear
Ive lowered alot of cars now and have done all kinds of heights so know exactly how they all look -
#32Well could be the rear anti-roll bar needs tightening up. Quite a few people have this problem. Here is a link to the guide http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75542. As for the drop looks about right to me.
-
#33needs to be lower mate. imo
-
#3450-60mm is da sex.
-
#35Does look a little high,dont think thats 40mm some how....mines 40mm all round,and sits much lower..............
-
#36

this is my vtr lowered 40 at the back 35 front
u need proper wheels mate -
#37Why are people saying get "propper" wheels
-
#39everyone likes different wheels.
-
#41Oh right i see. Nah i love these wheels. Would of preferd some Oz pure black multispokes but i didnt have that sort of money
-
#43saying that when u buy a typical chav car? u saying my wheels r chavy then?
-
#45oh right seemed like u aimed it at me lol
-
#47Yeh mate but i aint guna pay another whloe load of money to get it lowerd again for another 10mm.
Just need to deal with it i supose
-
#48Pop the rear torsin bars back out and drop it 10mm then take your front springs out and get the grinder out and lose a coil
-
#50Sounds like a good plan tho tbh
If it was measured out propperly
-
#52pow this low?

or like this?
-
#55ive never heard there to be a safe way for coil cutting. isnt it mot fail aswell?
-
#56yeah i wouldnt go cutting the springs either not worth it. why not just sell your springs to someone else and get new ones? i think it mite b an mot fail aswell. id check that out before you go ahead with it. im lowering mines 60mm at the weekend on bilstein shocks and springs so hope it comes out alright. should sit really low!
-
#57Nah i aint guna bother with anything. Im begining to like it now, that pic doesnt do it any justice, i supose it looks lower in person
-
#58be much safer on the speed bumps and it takes a while to bed in.
