right im very interested in putting a vt kit on my saxo 5 door. right besides having to cut the kit so i can still use my back doors, will there be any other problems? im sure someone on here has all ready done it! but i cant find the link. Thanks
VT kit on saxo 5 door?

#2it has definitely been done, i think they had to use the front door pannels on teh rear doors aswell as the front doors, which obviously needed modifying to fit, but looked different,
-
#3you would need to extend the side skirts, create something to fit the rear quarter and rear doors
-
#4dont think you have to extend the side skirts... there both the same length, the doors are just shorter on the 5 door. the rear arch will have to be cut and bonded onto the door to fit properly, but im sure thats how they did it on the other 5 door aswell.... i really could do with finding the thread about it.
-
#5I wouldn't bother tbh not worth the hassel. Just keep the flat arch look and fit a VT front bumper? That looks good imo.
For example:
Gokans old

Marshy old

(hope they dont mind me using there pics) -
#6does look nice, so them pics have the front vt bumper? is it just a straight swap then? has the top pic got a side skirt on aswell?
-
#7is it possible to just put a front and rear bumper on? but does it just not work? i have been looking for ages bit i am just not sure if its too much hassle.
-
#8i no the vt back bumper is different, it comes off at a different angle for the arch to connect to it.... i thought the front bumper was the same aswell but looking at these pics its not. lol
-
#9Front bumper is a straight swap with no issues, but the rear bumper (although it will fit the car) will not fit the flat arch's. Side skirts are definately longer on a five door. You can generaly tell when the car is nearly a foot longer.
-
#11whats the thread for that car?
-
#12cheers
-
#13that red 5dr looking very nice:y
shud try it fella, some graft to do it but looks the business, and by the sounds their aint many in ur area. Also the manual actual says the chassis is a lil longer on a 5dr. -
#14Just sell your car and buy 3 door, easy as that bud........
-
#17that red 5dr is soooo shit , i hate 5doors
-
#18nearly every panel will need to be adapted
the 3 door model's doors are longer, so the front door panel will need shortening, the rear arch/door panel will need adapting a lot to fit 1) along the length of the door and 2) over the arch and allowing the doors to open
the bumpers will go on fine though. to get the front bumper on you will need to make new holes to the fitting brackets so it fits flush (this is if you do the bumper alone)
you can fit the rear bumper on as normal, but if you are only changing the bumpers, the rear one wont look good as it is a different shape. its made to fit in with the curve of the rear arch, so without the arches, it leaves a gap
i looked into doing it with my old saxo, but i couldnt be bothered to pay the huge costs involved with all the changes -

#20damn right you do
-
#21Pointless wasten money fitten vt kit on 5 door, when its easyer to fit it on 3 door....
-
#22yes, however... if someone needs the 5 door version (more doors more whores) then they would want to try and fit it. it isnt as easy as just swapping for a 3 door. lol
-
#24its easy to say that, but not as easy to do so.
its hassle, changing insurance etc, trying to sell one car and trying to buy another suitable one -
#25Depends how much you want it bud!!! i buy cat -c saxo"s and 106 gti"s fix them with in 2 weeks Mot them and sell themQuote:its easy to say that, but not as easy to do so.

and rake the cash in everytime £££££

#26the thing with doing that though is that you are then moving into a very common style. i.e the VT kit 3 door saxo.
they're everywhere, however you rarely see tastefully modded 5 doors -
#27Yer but im only seling on to jo public thow mate, upto them what style they go for..........Quote:the thing with doing that though is that you are then moving into a very common style. i.e the VT kit 3 door saxo.

-
#28it wasnt aimed at you buying and selling, it was in reference to you implying that the OP should just get a 3 door and VT kit it. lol
-
#30i likle it in a strange way its different

right ive managed to find some after market side skirts from POTN to fit the 5 door, and ive also purchased some wheel arches to fit the 1.1's which fits the 5 door just nicely. my only issue is the back bumper now, even if i get an aftermarket back bumper designed for the vtr i still will get the gap, but im sure i can get around that with some filler

#38good on you for being persistent with it

i would love to have been able to fund the work to get mine done in full VT.
although i would have been gutted when it came to selling it. LOL -
#39tbf matey 5doors arnt worth doin up. the three door looks a lot better, just not as practical in terms of gettin in the back. as far as im aware they dont make any 5doors above a ax or forte, so get yourself a 1.4 furio, or even a 1.1 3door, grab a set of arches of your local breakers, direct fitment and look better. that way the mods you do will look nicer than the 5door!!
-
#40Quote:it wasnt aimed at you buying and selling, it was in reference to you implying that the OP should just get a 3 door and VT kit it. lolthere is you're ans buddy ............... that would be the easy option andQuote:tbf matey 5doors arnt worth doin up. the three door looks a lot better, just not as practical in terms of gettin in the back. as far as im aware they dont make any 5doors above a ax or forte, so get yourself a 1.4 furio, or even a 1.1 3door, grab a set of arches of your local breakers, direct fitment and look better. that way the mods you do will look nicer than the 5door!!
