Hid kit with angels.

  1. #1
I might be getting hid kit and have got angels. Ive read on here that they can melt the rings? But my mate had them in his focus with angels and were fine and they were the cheap £50 ones off ebay and 10k ones. Would i be ok with them in?

i dont think its the ring you have to be worried about its the len's i believe as they are plastic not glass, maybe wrong.

i'm pretty sure 10k is still pretty blue, watch you dont get pulled by the fuzz 6 or 8 is better imo

Its a 6k kit i might be getting. I thought was rings. Can you get bulbs that have low heat from them?
  5. #5
its the plastic lends you need to watch not the ring

the heat from the HiDs will melt the lens

HID's are no hotter than normal halogen bulbs, it's the UV rays that crack the plastic, not the heat.

its the lenses but there is a very simple way around this... take the standard headlights take the GLASS lense off and take the plastic one off the angels. then swap them over job done

i have yet to see a set of damaged angels caused by hids!

Many people do get away with fitting these HID kits as its hard to tell from the outside they are fitted unless there set poorly or are a daft colour. But the fact remains that there strictly illegal to use on the road. Blue headlights are also illegal. Bluest HID fitted to a factory car is 5800k as fitted to some high end saloon cars and the odd 4x4, most cars come with HID bulbs closer to 4000k. Anything much outside this range may get the police attention. Possibly also worth noting your insurance company is unlikely to pay out if you are in a accident and they work out your car was not road legal.

    See this thread: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=224963

The bit that melts on angel eyes is the actual plastic front of the headlights. I think the rings will melt as well, but they arent the main problem.

The cause of the melting isn't the heat, but the UV in the HID kit.

Generally speaking; a cheap eBay HID kit will not be UV protected (so will cause melting) but an expensive HID kit will be UV protected and therefore is fine to use.

    For example:
Autobulbs Direct say that "All the bulbs on our website including HID and high wattage bulbs are UV protected to ensure they are compatible with plastic headlights. The addition of Xenon gas does not cause the bulbs to be hotter than standard bulbs. The only reason you would cause any damage to your headlights with bulbs is if they are poor quality and have no UV protection."
HIDS4U say on certain product pages "The bulbs have been UV cut to prevent damage to plastic lenses".

So i just need some uv protected bulbs? How much and what set are good?
  12. #12
hids direct sell very good kits and not too expensive either..
  13. #13
ive got some now. The bulbs wont fit into holes for dipped beams.
  14. #14
10k in imo they look good had them on my last car

I need to know what bulbs will fit into my angels with the hids anyone?? The h4 bulbs slightly too big to go in. Apparently you can get the smaller bulbs for the angels. Need to know off someone that already done it.
  16. #16
u need to find out wat bulbs the angels take, as they might not be h4 fitment.
  17. #17
    Angels are H1.
  18. #18
So i just need some h1 bulbs? Can you recommend some good ones which are uv protected also? The kit comes with 6k bulbs but my mates telling me to get 10k.
  19. #19
im running 8k in angels with no probs at all but wouldnt go higher than that
  20. #20
the "k" is just the colour....8k is bluish and white is 6k

and you need a UV protected H1 HID kit.
  21. #21
Is it not the bulbs which are uv protected? All the other parts is the inverter and wiring then you have the bulbs.
  22. #22
yeah but you buy a complete kit ??
  23. #23
Well ive already got a kit, will have to go see if can find which make it is as not got with me atm.
  24. #24
Is this what i need to turn my h4 kit into a h1 for them to fit my angels?
