as above, my mates vtr keeps popping out of 3rd and it used to crunch and whine! and gears were ropey to find, So after a 1.1-rallye gearbox now, much difference?

So, what if you stuck a 1.1 box on to a VTR and hit the limiter (As i don't intend to), would it wreck the box? And a VTS box is simular to a 1.1 box?, but can handle higher speeds? If i stuck this onto a VTR and 'Hit the limiter' it wound't do much damage to the box? But slightly longer gear ratios? |

A 1.1 box is fine.
I've done numerous 1/4 mile and trackdays with one on an 8v with no worries. So as an everyday car that's not going to get used like that it'll be more than fine. The only thing you'll notice is that because it's not got the 'sports ratio' gearset, you'll drop down 'off cam' so to speak (below 5k), on gear changes when you're up near the 16v limit (7200rpm), but only briefly. |
