hello all, long time since i been on here so im just posting for a friend.

hes got a 2002 vts (56000miles, standard except pipercross air filter) and basically when the cars warm and the heaters are on hot theres a smell of oil coming through. any thoughts?

    common problem maybe?

    any info greatly appreciated thanks!

I had this problem. Have you taken off the rocker cover breather pipe and replaced it with a filter?

If so, the smell of hot oil evaporating from the filter on top of the rocker cover is your problem.

ahhh well the breather pipe from the rocker cover goes into the side of the air filter but would it smell like oil if its leaked into the filter?

    thanks

There is also a crankcase breather pipe. Its about an inch accross and comes from back of engine area. You can put a breather on it or drill the piper cross body and fit a "neck" to it to accept the pipe. ( is used a electrical conduit connector 20mm).

im getting this too, stinking out the interior getting high yo lol, have got a return from the breather to the air filter though, so its not that

Check pipes again, you are smelling blowby gases from the crankcase that are normally burnt when the pipes are as factory spec.

tis common with induction kits that dont recycle the breather into the inlet.

It would explain this common issiue

think it would be because the clamps aren't jubilee'd up letting some gasses to bypass?

check the rocker covers for this prob too if ever been off might not be sealed proper causing a slight leak.

i had this problem with my vts i got a filter for the oil breather pipe that helped with the problem. iv just got a raceland enclosed induction kit that has a hole for the breather pipe does the hole need to be bloked up on the induction kit and if so what it the best way of blocking it up?
