That's what iv been reading, and so got me wondering which would be best suited for me.

Looked on Halfords and its recommending me 10w/40, 5w/40 oil down to 0w/30

10w-40 semi synthetic or if you want better 5w-40 synthetic. Dont bother with homne brands like Halfords own, stick to a proper reputable brand.

I have always used Halfords own brand oil. Works absolutely fine. To the recommendations of Citroen. I dont know why anyone would put more expensive oil in a car that is not highly stressed and used for racing.

There is nothing wrong with Halfords oil.

yeah halfords oil is fine its what i use. i suppose if you have a big set up its not the best but i have a full exhaust and induction kit and dont see the problem in using it. if it was turbod and cammed and w.e i would consider a better brand of oil.

It's okay, but like anything there is always better. You could have gone for a dodgy old Lada Riva, but went for a Saxo as a better option

I use Castrol Magnetec...in a 1.1 purely as a preventative measure. I just think it protects the engine better than halford brands etc.

10w-40 is what you should be using, just avoid stuff like asda's own oil. Halfords shud be fine tho

10w-40 Castrol fully synth. thats all you need haha

10w-40 semi such as Magnatec is fine, the Halfords will be fine but it is made to as low a cost as possible, this will leave you with the most basic oil that can pass the relevent API and ACEA tests (think cheap tyres and decent tyres, they all pass the tests for use on the road... But some perform much better then others.) A reputable brand oil will be of higher quality and generally only a few quid more then home brands so worht the money IMO.

halfords is a store for car parts all little car bit and so on so im sure there oil is sufficient enough for a saxo that has 93k on the clock and a just a couple engine mods its not a brand new car so why bother.
