Lol well as said before mate, keep your foot light and you should be hitting high 30's

there's a sticky on how to improve your mpg

keep weight down, tires pumped up, low revs etc

I've been testing the difference between MPG with a K&N cone, and the standard air box and filter. Using the K&N seems to be more beneficial on motorways etc but also does improve smoothness when pulling away.

Generally I get between 31 and 36 MPG :-( but have got it up to 41 before.
The key is to keep tyres inflated correctly, not to much weight, car has been serviced well, and short shifting/missing gears. Should do 30mph in 5th no problem.

and take it for a good run fairly regularly to get it right upto temperature to keep it in best condition
  13. #13
If you Tcut it, that should give an extra 2-3 mpg

If you look at thread dates you'll realise you're a year and a half late

I've put £20 in this week (On Sunday) and work 10 miles way.

Seen my g/f twice (38 mile round trip)

Floored it everywhere tbh. Esp down the A6 with the roundabouts. Needle is only at 1/4. Very impressed

early ones arent so good, later silvertops are great i could get 50mpg+ on the motorway in my y reg 'r

35mpg around town in a vtr? lol
  21. #21
    I get around 25mpg and about 32mpg if I hyper-mile it.
  22. #22
i get between 380 and 450 from a tank in my VTR.
its good on fuel! generally i average 40mpg in it.

Ph1s do slightly less. Usually... 38? not much differant though.
the fuel economy is good, given the price of petrol V diesel, running costs arent bad at all!

Hmm so torn between getting a fun daily driver or something with really good mpg!! Currently thinking either vtr/vts, 205 rally car, Clio Dci hmm tricky one.

Why did you bump this thread?? seriously...?
  25. #25

    Because post count.

My VTR with a straight through exhaust and 4-2-1 mani can see 100 miles on £20 (not even half a tank anymore) I reckon I could get around 300 on a full tank. I drive to work and back most of the time, but it stays on choke pretty much the whole journey

Can't we all just agree that.. That invariably through the passage of time and or space (not forgetting people can get lost in space so the relevant health and safety should be observed where necessary) threads may and dare I imply will ultimately suffer a bumpage greater than or equal too absolute zero, so yes we can pause for thought as to why but isn't the greater question why not?

It's now another of them what car should I buy threads. Well, make your own mind up according to what's available in your area: go shop son. With all that christmas stuff I can't possibly be arsed to do some more for some internet random.

I think some people on here need to chill the f**k out! If someone wants to know the answer to something and makes a new thread on it they get pages of abuse. So instead they search it (like they're told to do). Lets say they then sort their problem or come up with a new response or way of doing something and helpfully share it with others - then good on them. Leave them the hell alone!
