As above anyone got one or know what ther like any good?
alloy crank pully

#2Most people get them to compliment a lightend flywheel iirc
Only ever seen them for the VTS though. -
#3they do them for vtr's
hose reduce the weight to be turnt over on start up and the alternator ones, take less power from the engine.
something along those lines. -

#6Nice findQuote:

Only seen GMC sell them before now
-
#7i think the link i posted is sandy.
think for a vts there a good upgrade as the OE one wear down and break, vtr's dont and are expensive for sweet bugger all...
but mite get the alternator one though, as it about £30-40 quid -
#8Its a good modification really. You should notice a little increase in the cars eagerness to rev as you accelerate. It reduces some of the parasitic loss from the mass of the pulleys and the effort needed to power the alternator. My racecar will be using some as it all helps! We have these in stock at all times.

#9Didn't notice that you had them, really like the sound of them thoughQuote:Its a good modification really. You should notice a little increase in the cars eagerness to rev as you accelerate. #10think i may purchase them when i have some monies.

#11You also can buy original spare part number is 0515.L2 its a pulley without dampfing gum diameter is 128mm 5 groove and weights 467gramms, cost about 25-35 pounds.

I have this installed to my sax, also other alternator from a smaller TU without all that tensioner bullshit

#12Improving the efficiency is a very good way of getting extra power really. Theres loads of bhp sapping parts on your standard engine that can help throttle response if replaced with lightweight components.

#13Our crank pulley is 230grams. The whole kit including the belt is about 350grams so quite a difference.
-
#15If these are the colin satchell ones, the alt pulley is slightly smaller... i'm assuming the crank pulley is the same diameter as the standard item. Quality looks excellent - fitting some to mine tomorrow.

#16Kev group buy

Wow 230 grams is much lighter. I am even thinking about that I am feeling something more acceleration power with the 467 gr. pulley, the o/e on the 16v is about 1042 gr. for the little 128mm pulley with airconditon.
The ones without aircondition got the 138mm pulley which should be much heavier than the 128mm pulley.

#18Dang it! Wish the'd been around when my pulley went fubar

#19for a road car do really want your alternator to run slower --especially with electric power steering + ICE system ,and there is a reason std one is 5 rib belt --the load the alternator gets when you turn sterring when stationary needs 5 ribs to stop belt slipping.
yes ours don,t look as "blingy " ,but thats cos they are hard anodised --machined alloy looks good --till the road salt gets at it .Its a diect replacment for std one ,,and yes it could be lighter but at 306 gms its still 1/3 weight of std unit1 user thanked this post: -
#20So do they do a lot or are they just a bling thin1 user thanked this post:

#22Ill take it as a no for a group buy then lol
-
#23maybe. Would have to crunch some numbers
-
#24Iam up for a group buy
take it the 8v fits on the furio aswell??
-
#25how many peeps would we need? i think theres abit of interest in these
-
#26Would prefare yours anyway, not a fan of bling myself lolQuote:for a road car do really want your alternator to run slower --especially with electric power steering + ICE system ,and there is a reason std one is 5 rib belt --the load the alternator gets when you turn sterring when stationary needs 5 ribs to stop belt slipping.

#28Ironic really, the pulley kits being discussed (Ebay and KAM) were originally developed by myself and Colin Satchell for our race cars, for functional reasons of preserving the alternator reliability at high rpm and reducing parasitic losses, not for bling! The basic pulley design and material used have a decade of production by Colin for other applications. They have of course, proved to be completely reliable and effective on road cars too, no corrosion problems evident and perfectly adequate charging even on cars using very small batteries. I can't comment about ICE installs, that's not really our field.

#30Glad to hear it, thanks
-
#31so would anyone be interested in a group buy in these?
-
#32i wouldnt bother unless adding a lightened flywheel as well, seein as thats where most of the weight is
