Yer there was nothing major, main thing that put him off was a bit of rust on the chassis leg but its nothing serious. Like I say this is coming from the person that got the shell of his track car acid dipped and most of the underside powder coated lol
  22. #22
Lol did he expect it to be like brand new? Not much you can do about things like that apart from do what he has done.

    Quote:
To add, my friend who works as a mechanic for VW has been under the car and everywhere and said there is none. Further to this i have now been out in the rain under the car, with an LED light and cant spot this rust.

    Thanks Ash,

Hmm well at the moment id like to keep it fairly std, i want to keep it unmolestered but i see such potential haha

    Things im considering..

    Colour coding
    Lowering
    421 -exhaust system
    Cams
    Ford graphite grey alloys
    " " " Cam cover
    And the filter

Apart from that, get her serviced by Citroen and only use OEM materials lol
  36. #36
    Fair enough, sounds good mate

these look cracking in standard form, especially now that youve given the bay some attention, should serve you well as a good motor.

  42. #42
Looks good bud nice improvement what did you use on the bay?
  43. #43
    Thanks Wayne,

    I used;

Snowfoam (obviously not with the pressure washer lol) just to break up the dirt a little then wiped off
Megs gold wash with Hot water
Engine degreeser (cheap shite but it works)
    Autoglym Show shine
    supagard paint sealant
    autoglym metal polish
    Wd40 in places to lube
    Dried it all up

Think thats about it, oh and for the cam covers scouring pads and some material for sanding down paint for prepping cant remember its name though.

Lol, id give the sound up for a little extra performance, the Simota is real carbon fibre, unsure if the BMC is?
  77. #77
That looks really good, where can you get them, kamracing?
  78. #78
    Thanks Jamie,

I've had it for some time now, i got it from German ebay as an import, i think you can get them on ebay UK but they are the price of a BMC, i would sooner this than a BMC but i did pay £77 for it BNIB with postage at the time from Germany.

Its original application was for my 206 Gti180 but im using it as a universal filter.

It was just to the bottom of the car held in place but now, its just behind the foglight, theres a whole where you can see the floor and ive put it on top of that so it doesn't collect the rubbish that might be kicked up but still sucks in the air from just above.

    Thanks mate

    Gti 180s ftw.

Insurance is gay though at grp17 and costs of parts are high so dont rape it too much.

If your modding it, do the usual breathing mods , eibach springs or proper suspension and then map it / even cam it and it will rape

206info.co.uk - its like a brand new forum as it went down so nows the chance to start again like, nice bunch

Lol yep pretty much, however i do use products

Snow foam areas obviously not with a hose or lance lol just a bowl of water with some in and a sponge (only place il use one)

I use Megs gold class shampoo on paintwork ie slam pannel ect, then dry it and use polish lol

For black plastics i use Megs hot wheels, its a tire sealent but works wonders on black plastics

Anything like covers can be taken off and stuck in a bucket of hot water and scrubbed down/dried and refited.

    Any dirt you see attack!

With metals that are covered in shite, use some sort of degreeser and a wire brush, clean as much off as possible and use Autosol to bring to a nice shine

Theres more in my head somewhere lol

Thats ok, you got a link to the picture of your kit?

I lead it down to near the fog but there is a spot where i can see daylight quite clearly so fixed it in to place tight where daylight was

The Kit sounds like a hoover constantly sucking in air.

I dont mind the questions dude

Hmm aparently the metal is good for heat shielding btw, Profile Automotive on the Focus ST scene use it and they get the best results with their CAIS.

Shows it in the pics in the listing btw, with that last peice of metal piping get a small cold airfeed pipe and exstend it towards the wheel arch, there is light somewhere around there have a butchers when your next in the bay, lots of cold air around there.

Detailed the S yesterday, i have a thread up in the detailing section but thought id add this here too.

    Method

Rinse with Karcher to loosen surface dirt
Cherry snow foam'd with my new HD lance
Left to sit for 9 minutes
    Rinse

    Washing stage

Used Megs shampoo cant remember what one but its blue
    Cleaned the car down
    Rinse
    Full Clean again
    Rinse
    Full clean again

Out comes the Megs claybar and Doodoo juice born slippy
    Rinse car

    Drying

Doodoo juice time to dry applied
Quick wipe down with my new big towel

    Polish/wax/finishing

Then out comes the g220 used Megs scratch X and Megs diamond cut pad for swirls.

    Polished with Gold class polish
    Left it for lunch
    Removed residue
Sorted wheels with Megs hot wheels and my new agent that i cant remember the name of.
Doodoo juice light wax applied and left for 20 mins and removed.

Looks like mine when I bought it in 2005. Got cleaned nearly every other day. Then someone wrote my bro's 172 off and he needed a car, and I just got a company car so I sold it to him in 2007. Three years on and he was getting shot for an Astra Coupe 1.8 in that rusty orange colour (WHY!?!). The condition of it now is allot different, theres dents and scratches all over it, the engine bay looks like someone didn't know where to put oil and just poured it all over it, and all the arches hanging on by a clip.

Seeing your Saxo like that has given me the boost to get it sorted. It looks fantastic! Good to see somone putting their all into their car!

    Thanks for the boost too!

    Update

My new spot pads ect came today so i set about polishing my rockers myself as i had a piss take of an oil leak due to the cock on egay who sent me 'polished up rockers' well they arrived slightly polished up but had previously been painted red and the seal had a tiny split, niave me thought rubber expands when heated and thought it was ok to fit since the guy said they were fine in listing.

Well it pretty much has ruined the undernieth of the car (was just metal before) now its all black my mani has scaring from the oil which burnt as it hit it

Anyway, took a little while but results below [note engine bay is full of dust as i do motorway miles will be mint for The fast show for those who are going]

But hey at least i have the satisfication of knowing i am responsible for these ones

Also got new tires to go on friday with the lowering.

    HDR styles...

To keep clean, yes and no.

If you give it a proper clean/polish/wax/seal then all you will need to do to keep on top of it is use QD and a microfibre polishing cloth to remove dust, obviously hardcore stuff will need a wash though.

Looking really clean again lol, i've just got a spax 40mm kit as well, how much will you be going down at the back? And just wondering what's the best thing to polish up the cam covers? Just degrease them and then with autosol or something?

    Thanks mate,

To polish them up and get a decent result your going to need a machine polisher/buffer tbh

I started out with just cleaning them up as much as possible with a degreaser, sanding them down to get a smooth finish, polishing them up with autosol but its just not going to happen lol..

So i used a bench and a wheel to get as much shite off as possible, sanded them down further and used a 4" spot pad on my g220 laced in autosol, they are still not how i want them tbh

Front cover is great but there are lots of marks in the metal on the second cover so il be fine sanding that down further and polishing up with the g220 again.

Its effort but when you get the results its great

Car will be even stevens, unless it looks a little odd in which the rear will go slightly lower but i cant see that lol

No not bad just usually alloy wheels get balanced with stick on weights (or at least thats how we do them at work)

Just looks cleaner because you cant see them, and on a car that looks as good as yours it just supprised me that they had been balanced in that way.

I wish id had the drive to clean mine in this weather! Car looks very good.

Whats in place of your glove box?

Thanks mate yeh it pulls very well thanks

Hopefully the alloys will be with me tomorrow! Found out today that il be saving some good weight from these although i must say il save weight where possible but im not on a massive weight saving spree lol

Std VTS alloys weight = 8.6kg per alloy -
    15" Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2's weight = 6.1kg -
15" Speedlines although they look better are heavier at 7.4kg per alloy

So per set the VTS alloys weight = 34.4kg
Per set of Team Dynamics weight = 24.4kg
Per Set of Speedline Turni weight = 29.6kg

10kg savings between my choice and the originals & 5.2kgs between the Team D's and Turnis regardless to if they look a little better

So anyway heres a quick run through of how i will be protecting them this time round (had some previously and they were murder to keep)

    The Dodo way of course

    Method will be;

Wash in Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo
Dodo Juice Time To Dry will then be applied
    Dry them
Dodo Juice Lime Pirme to remove any oils / contaminants ect
Dodo Juice Born Slippy QD' them
Dodo Juice Red Mist will be applied
3x Dodo Juice Light fantastic Wax will be applied

    Leave them for 24 Hrs

Then a final Seal with Dodo Juice Red Mist.

Why am i protecting them? Protecting them does exactly what it says on the tin. It will help decrease the build up of tar/break dust and general road crap and keep a good smooth easy to clean finish

Pics will be up soon and il fit these within a month

    Well i have now completed the protection, they have been protected, After spending just over 5hrs in Wax heres a few pics;

Close up of one of them

2 of the alloys are being collected tomorrow and being replaced with new ones as they had between them 2 slight imperfections (pinhead sized chip) on one and what looked like a pin sized bit of dust that had been coated over on the other.

Ive been told im a fussy get' by friends ... i only noticed them when i went over them with my hand held LED thing to highlight them lol

have you machine polished the car yet? to get rid of swirls? CF petrol cover FTW how much were your Team Dynamics, if you don't mind me asking not going to get white ones though, going to get anthracite or satin black me thinks

No not been machin'd haven't had the time it's had polish applied via machine but at speed 1 just because i was too lazy to apply by hand, ideally though needs a proper going over as it does have swirls and the depth of the relections have room for improvement.

Anthracite ones dont look right from what i have seen so far like its a different anthracite to what im used to almost like it has a blue tinge to it or something. Id go black

Just finished claying the whole car ready for the big detail which is coming soon

Paintwork is looking and feeling much better

That was with Dodo Juice Born Slippy and Yellow clay i got from the fast show, iirc they sell it on CYC.

Looks good mate, was the 'Pugsport' a Scorpion too?

I need more info as i wanted a Supersprint but that also looks good.

It will be down to weight in the end because they look very similar and are around the same moneys.

Machined my bonnet today, im detailing my car in sections as i dont have much time on my hands atm.

Very impressed with the Menzerna range i have to say

    Bonnet is virtually swirl free

    Method

I washed my bonnet using warm water & Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo,
Clayed it with Dodo Juice Born Slippy & CYC yellow clay,
washed it again with Dodo Juice Supernatural, then dryed using my super drying towel.

Then on to Menzerna polishes 85RD ect and then it got Dodo Juice Light Fantastic applied and tomorrow i will seal it with Dodo Juice Red Mist.

    Pics

    Comments/suggestions welcome

Thanks Jim, atm i dont really have much time thats why im doing this in slices or id say yes for sure, Wayne has alot more experience than me he may be a better bet as i just do this because i want my car to be minty rather than for a living so he will be more pro.

Hmm get some closeup pics of your paintwork on a thread, did they use a depth guage because from what ive seen your car looks pretty sweet, swirls can be got out but if the paint is thin from previous machining that could pose a problem?

Hi guys just wondered what would be the best catback to go for?

I think i have got it down between the Super-sprint from KAM racing + "Saxsport" someone posted up earlier in the thread for me.

I have roughly £250 id spend, no ghey exhaust tips.

Id want it as light as possible + with maximum gains for price oh and it has to sound raspy like its on r0idz!

    So which one or another?

    Saxsport link

    Supersprint link

Im sort of thinking Saxsport as its basically the Pugsport which was the muts nuts but for a spaxo!

Forgot to mention its to be paired with my Piper 4-1 & a Cais induction kit
  312. #312
Never heard of a saxsport lol

but tbh I'd give it a try, if it's the same a a pugsport but just for a Saxo then hell yeah lol

Looking foreward to the saxport As for the machine polishing the reason was because it would show up the deeper scratches that cant be polised out. Apparently. The bonnet is in a particulary bad state. Like you said i will get some pics tomorrow and post them up.

Plans are on first page but il give you the low down

+Cams either Newman ph3s or Catcam 708's, probably the 708's though.
    +Engine bay carbon covers
    +Mapage
+Brembo 406 Coupe brake conversion - Black with yellow Brembo decals
    +Quick shift
    +Leather recliners
    +Anthracite OMP braces
+Gloss black morrettes (possibility still unsure)

    And maybe ITBS
  327. #327
    Sounds good, and expensive

In my opinion I wouldn't get morrettes as it would ruin the ''fresh'' look of the car.

Thanks mate, without seeing close up pics i wouldn't know your car may need a rotary machine if it's as bad as what they have said or possibly a respray(although tbh i think they probably dont have a clue lol)

Mirror caps are awsome i cant wait to fit them!

may i ask your personal opinion on the exhaust?

and whats it like, 5th gear doing 75mph on a motorway?

keep up the good work and subtleness.

Brembos look awsome! how much were they? I would love a set of hi-specs but they are slightly out of my price range Will have to settle for gti6 brakes insted!
  396. #396
I paid £265 including P&p but they look in better nick than most ive seen for sale, i thought about hi-specs but they are too expensive new and rare second hand.

These will more than do the job of stopping a 925kg Saxo (took some weight off for wheels lol) If they can stop a 1458kg 3.0 V6!

Dont settle saveeee your car deserves some nice brakes!

Forgot to say today i cleaned the car & the exhaust was adjusted by a pal and he fitted some Powerflex Exhaust Bushes..

Sits much better now will get pics asap

    Update.

As we know yesterday i cleaned my car & had the exhaust adjusted so it sits alot better.

My car may appear on stilts atm as the suspension is still adjusting after being in the air!

Next on the agenda is refurbing my brakes.

Seals and everything look fine my mate looked at them and he was a mechanic for Vdub so i trust him, yesterday i bought a paint caliper painting kit from Halfrauds lewl & some Brembo black caliper stickers!

Im pleased to announce they are going yellow with black brembo stickers which wont look out of place as i have yellow S stickers lol.

Ps i have just noticed i need to redo the inside of my wheels already!

    Pics

to eliminate brushstrokes or just much easier and quicker? did you go all the way round or just the front face of the caliper.

i still havnt decided on colour yet.
  442. #442
Cars looking good Jamie...our spec list/plans are very similar though, only variation is brands lol

@ newqs I'd recommend a tin and brush on calipers, I started mine with rattle cans and used a full 400ml but have achieved more with 2 thin coats applied by brush (works out about 20ml a coat) and if you use hammerite smooth it self levels so you don't have to worry about brushstrokes as they disappear before your eyes

The kit i use just smoothed itself out it's wierd but at first i started over applying because i thought i was going to be left with the strokes but then i noticed it just evened out it's wierd lol

I went all over the calipers, but did a shiter job on the back as no one see's it lol

The distance between the two white blobs?

Jamie are the door pillars just a sheet of vinyl CF or a thin piece of CF?

Need to hide some dodgy paint on my passenger door and these should be ideal as they look slightly longer than the OEM ones?

Mirror caps look awesome too...may have to buy myself some carbon ready for FCS next year

Made some progress today, decided to try my std cold airfeed trumpet in that location directed straight to my filter and it's official i have been suffocating my car, throttle responce is much improved, (airfeed now under slam pannel , air passes through bumper directly in to it) before it was feeding from the wheel arch which me being a div thought was good but how could air be sucked through the feed lol

Also cleaned the sump ect with GUNK as when i fitted my old polished rockers i sprung a leak and oil pissed everywhere..

I should be doing my coursework

Tomorrow brakes go on, bought 5.1 brake fluid, axel stands & brake bleed kit today

Lol thanks i was cruising egay as you do and found a whole kit for under £10 so in a moment of madness i hit buy it now lol pricey for what they are but they will make a visual difference i suspect lol

Heres my cold airfeed pics, it's the trumpet attached to the slam panel, the scoop goes underneath as std right behind the grill.

Pic of the feed facing my stainless feed.

  489. #489
    looking good.

why not just have the stainless feed connect to the slam panel then?

seems a long way round for the air to go? surely it would be better being forced straight into the filter from the front of the car?
  490. #490
Air feed look good bud look forward to seeing Brembo's on

I hear what your saying dude, im still unsure on it as above.

Thats the last CF thing for exterior, i asked if SC could make me a set of Chevrons, citroen & saxo badge set but they said it would not be cost effective

Other than that possibly when i get the JP4 covers a CF coilpack cover for them hmm

  516. #516
I also think the oem cap is better, looks alot cleaner. The carbon one does look good but as chip said you dont want to over do it. JP4 covers + sc coil pack cover FTW lol.

Aye, im not digging the petrol cap tbh mate, your choice though, certainly wouldn't say that it ruins the overall look of a fantastic car though if you do keep it.

Tbh i love the colour but i wish it was black, cleaning a silvery coloured car is not as rewarding!

Want to swap? Yea black looks awsome but it shows up any imperfections sooo easily. I really need to get a DA to keep on top of the swirls, it so bad at the moment

Im not to sure about them. I think painted badges look a bit tacky on some cars, where your car is so clean and subtle i think it spoils it slightly. Thats what i think anyway lol.

    Nice one mate!

172 met 1.1 power on the way home...beat me initially - i was a few car lengths away from slow moving traffic so no surprise really as they had a clear carriage way...but a tactical lane change beofre the next roundabout and a slow moving lorry and some traffic meant i had the better of them for 8 miles until they turned off!

Wish i had then S though would of been curtains from the off! Esspecially if i had bodies

Braces looks good too! Make me want to fit mine...

Thanks mate, Unsure how you missed the bonnet open it was open til 4 before i got the car ready to leave & the spec sheet was inside the car when the bonnet was down lol

The Pipe leads to where the headlight is and stops, and i have the original cold air feed leading right under it, some say it would be easier to just take that pipe off and run the std cold airfeed in to it like a BMC but i think it looks prettier and performs well anyway.

The dirt on the rear quater i do remember looked like someone wiped their dirty mits down the car as it was in a finger shape and greasy (i quick detailed the whole car twice that morning) Although i blaimed it on Raz trying to sabbatage my car at the time lol

Lol @ the dirt, maybe your bonnet was open then, saw so many cars that day but looking @ your recent under bonnet pictures it doesn't look like any i saw. Swear the spec sheet was on the dashoard when i read it maybe i had to much to drink the night before.

Btw hope you don't mind but i had to have a feel of the carbon on the door it was clean don't worry. Just thought it looked really awesome.

Abit of an update, ive decided to try the strippage...

Just spare wheel, rear seats /lower belt clips (not removed rear side pannels/ actual belts)

I gave it all a wee clean for the pics but a more exstensive one will be underway tomorrow at some point.

Wonder how long il last before i get pissed off with the noise lol not driven it yet but i can defo sense a weight loss spare wheel weighed around the same as two of my Team D's im pretty sure lol

    How she stands;

    Comments welcome x

When mine was stripped i didnt think the noise was to bad until i put the interior in again. Was so loud and you could hear all the nasty noises lol. Will all be coming out again tomorrow though when i fit the corbeau sprint seat Going to make a lightweight false floor to neaten things up a bit.
  633. #633
looks nice Jamie.....untill you stripped it whats the point? I have no back seats in at the mo but thats purely as I had a leak and didnt wann ruin my refurbed interior.

Thanks mate,I don't think it's staying this way, was just to see really if i could live with it but im unsure if i can yet. At least i know it's an easy job if i want it out for trackdays which im going to eventually get round to

Hi mate, i use a special attatchment to my pressure washer called a 'snow foam lance' and special detergant called 'snow foam' besically it's shampoo which you spray on thick and it loosens the dirt so when you rinse it off and start your 2 bucket method it helps to prevent you creating swirls on your paint

Hi I still have it but i'm unsure how long i'm keeping it, the project is definitely over no more updates to come now. I think it will either go late this year or early next year if i sell it.

I'm at uni and still pissing around with cars makes no sense and it's taken something non car related to make me realise there is so much more to life.

    Thanks for the comment

Might aswell make an announcement - my last update

This project is over. I have decided to put my all in to university.

Not looking to be ASW, I hope you enjoy'ed the thread, That is all

Shame you couldn't carry on with it Jamie, such a mint example and nice plans, but education takes proiority, like many that's why my progress has all but stopped

Still if you do sell you know where the Brembo's can go...on a fellow icelandic

how many miles has this done??? as in that FCS entrance pic and a couple of others your rear beam looks like its starting to camber quite alot?
how much u looking for selling for when the time comes? i maybe tempted back to a saxo if the price is right and i could follow-up the work you couldnt get done as i dont have to go far to work so if the car was out of commision while work was undertaken it would be all good.

It's done 57k 2003-03, i'd be looking for 3.5k at the time as is, As 90% of the stuff is way less than a year old and it's a ruddy good example if i do say so myself worse comes to worse i'd split but i'm not selling it just yet. Ze' Spec can be found on the index page of my thread, i bought the car standard back in Feb. In regards to the rear beam it doesn't look that bad in real life i've certainly not noticed it only by looking at that Fcs pic do i notice, car shouldn't need anything done

As for the car, depending on how uni goes I might sell it, i have just paid a full years insurance up front but if I don't need it and sell it maybe they will refund me lol!

I was almost tempted to buy a cage and spray it yellow but I wont do it lol!

Yellow cage and icelandic = WIN

Saw it on cage manufacturers website in a 106 and i fell in love, i'm not hardcore enough for a cage, the furthest i've managed with stripping the car is losing the spare wheel brackets, exhuast heat sheilds and fresh air pump lol

    Some nice Recaro leather recliners/harnesses
    OMP corsica wheel
    Yellow dash dodger
    Stripped rear, but carpeted
Spare 15" Team D in the boot wrapped in Yoko Parada spec 2 strapped in to the center of the boot
    yellow and black jp4's
    Cams
    Jenveys

That list would make for an epic car...think I know what to do to my S when it is retired to a weekend toy

Black and yellow JP4's? How were thinking of doing them? I conveniently have a set of JP4's and some yellow paint

Lol no jenveys too expensive! I'd love to do it but it would be wasted the car wouldn't be used properly. My local halfrauds are always sold out when I want them bulbs i might get some of ebay or something though

I really wanted SaxoIOW's rear lights aswell mmmmmm lol

Ah thats a shame man, always loved them style lights on 106's shame they dont make them for the Saxo! Cant you tint them from the inside to the same affect?

Theres one in the for sale section now Jamie (am i not hleping? )

Had a look at the JP4's tonight, thinking of smoothing the badge recess out then spraying the coilpack cover yellow, and get a few yellow stickers for the OE black cam covers...quite tempting lol

    James
  712. #712
No problem for the link Jamie go on get some bodies for your car, for the price you pay it's a good kit and good quality
  713. #713
Dont think you can tint them from the inside. Might be able to will have a look sometime. Yea i like the standard ones, especialy when they are polished up nicely
  714. #714
So..what if I said, it wasn't all over?

I'm probably going to regret this one day but meh lol

My project is semi back on. It wont be quick progress like before though.

I was browsing through here the other day looking for a cheap turbo or ITB'd Paxo, And in particular I was looking at Craigs old 180', I thought about asking the guy who owned it for a swap for my car with some cash his way, but then realised that it made no sense and it would only be because of the turbo otherwise my car is in better overall condition with alot less milleage (no offence intended btw, it's a nice car, but as with any car time takes it's toll), so anyway it would have made sense just to turbo my car... which I wont do because that's just silly money... I was looking at Minis again (have been for a while) but it just doesnt make sense for me to buy one so...

In the end after looking through lots of Saxos in general I realised, I would be stupid to sell mine after all the work and money I pumped in to it just for a turbo... and that I may aswell just keep this mint and add to it to keep me busy busy busy even though I have no spare time atm lol...

One thing i'm doing is, checking it's not already been cam'd. I believe it could already be cam'd so the covers are coming off very soon to look for markings on the cams, If it's not great theres even more fun to be had but it just seems a little too lively for what people estimate on here for 130-135 bhp... I know power to weight and all that but it's the general pick up and how it pulls suprises me.

    So...

    Plans over time

    - Catcam 708's and some Vernier's , I know the standard ones are adjustable but meh
    - OMP Suede Corsica wheel (deep dish)
    - More carbon goodies
    - Possibly jp4s
    - OMP Dash dodger (not in a rush want it second hand and cheap) Because I dont want to die if I push it a little too hard lol
    - Hubcentric Spacers want a wider stance which will be better for handling
    - Drilled and grooved rear disks standard size and possibly a lick of paint for rear callipers
    - 206 Gti 180 Gearknob
    - Morrettes
    - Maybe some buckets if some come up at a decent price, ideally OMP
    - Uprated clutch

    God give me strength!

And your not allowed morettes! (have no reason other than i want a set ), should be rolling on black pro race 1.2's shortly too...our cars are going to look like twins at FCS

Thanks dude, the only thing putting me off the lights is the fact you have to keep tinting them, why cant some bugger just make them properly in the first place lol!

If all goes to plan i'l be on the P stand this year, I'm usually with PerformanceTorque but, theres quite a few paxo's on there now and I originally didn't bother with Sax-p because my car wouldn't stand out. + that coupled with the fact people don't seem to be bothered by paxo's on there, it may aswell be somewhere it's appreciated abit more considering the time & money I chucked at it within 5 months of ownership lol
  736. #736
Just out of interest are there any cages that you can keep the rear seats in?

I need to keep my rear seats because the girlfriend has a 2 seater and her sis comes up to stay with us but want a safety cage (dont fancy dying atm) lol

And to be even more picky i'd want it to be a dash dodger lol
  737. #737
Not really, If anyone in back hit there head on the bars..... dead most likely.

Only show cages you can use back seats with but no point in them tbh.
  738. #738
Nah I dont want a show cage lol like you say pointless, damn want a cage though, what about if I bought padding?

    Update,

Today shes getting the following done; shes @ 60k now

    Cambelt & Water pump change
    Oil & oil filter change
    Fuel filter change

Plugs don't need doing as they are the Denso Irridiums like 5 months old and she fires up like a beau lol

I attempted to fit my JP4's the other day too all was well piss easy obviously until it came to connecting the pipes, from the 206 xsi jobby... no fit... lol too long and as it was cold the plastic became brittle as I tried to re route or flex it and it snapped in two places so for now the J4's remain... until I find a C2 oil return pipe / cam cover breather pipe oh and a messy oil'y bay:@

On the plus, I can't wait to pick up my stuff on wednesday.

Also ordering a new Raceland SS mani soon as mine looks a little tatty, I thought it was fubard the other night as I have blowing but it seems to be the gasket, so i'l be able to sell the old mani off lol.
  755. #755
i reckon gti leather rear bench and some leather buckets up front!! are you going to track it ?

its to tidy to get chucked round a track.

Yeh I want some recliners now, but can't afford them especially after the stuff i'm having done today & the discraceful phone bill I accumulated lol, The ones I want CHIP is selling in the for sale section, Cabreau (cant spell) Carrearas in the black and the gti rear bench seems a good shout

In regards to tracking it, I really want to track it, but like you said it's a little too tidy to track

I kinda want something to happen to give me the excuse too but in the same breath I would be gutted lol
  757. #757
totally agree, it would be wasted on the track, its just really may i say perfect example of the saxo.. gti rear bench and leather reclincers = epic win, imo strippage and cage would ruin it..
  758. #758
    Thanks man

    I just got the bill through for the bits above;

    -Cambelt & Water pump change
    -Oil & oil filter change
    -Fuel filter change

£308 fitted including tax & parts, and they are throwing in some free antifreeze lol
  759. #759
    All works complete

    Cambelt done ; 01/11/10 @ 60,023

Now I need the exhaust adjusted because of a rattle which is too anoying to leave, soon i'l be buying a new SS mani & fitting all my new bits I get on Wed
  760. #760
Well after a very long drive to Southend on Sea and numerous mistakes along the way bloody google maps, I collected these today lol.

I got round to cleaning the bay up after lots of motorway miles too and fitted 2 of my CF covers, looking for JP4 breather pipes before I can fit them and the CF Coilpack cover, the ones they came with kinda snapped ha.

I have been told they will fit but it will be tight so I have a foam sticky pad quite thick to rest the brace on, if they don't get on well then the Jp4's and CF coilpack will be for sale because the brace defo stiffens up the front end and I like how the bay looks now tbh lol

Next is a new raceland SS mani

I'm unsure about removing it tbh, may do one day lol, aparently the breather pipe is £35 from citroen so will keep an eye out for a second hand hobby me thinks lol

Couple of day time pics of the 2 covers fitted, not got round to the rest yet, but I think I may sell the Jp4's and CF coilpack cover as I actually prefer the look of my polished covers on tbh

Had the Jp4's on minus the CF coilpack cover and thought it didn't suite my car hmmm

I'm gussing thats a reflection on the ecu cover in the pic because it's not sealed on iirc lol, and as you will notice my mani looks a state so a shinny new raceland SS one will be on order before the show season commences lol

    Comments welcome
  773. #773
That looks so smart! +1 on keeping the J4s, looks so fresh. Ive got a raceland manifold and they loose their shine so quickly, unless you polish them every day that it

heat wrap the mani, looks better and has a purpose!! win win
  775. #775
Right heres a picture of the cam covers together...

JP4's with the CF coilpack covers, as you can see there is slight grazing to the coilpack cover which is why I have decided to sell them. It's not that bad but I'd prefer 100% mint these are about 97% I'd say lol

    &

    Without the CF

Hate them without the CF so they are up for sale now
  776. #776
Looks very good Jamie i prefer the J4 polished ones to think they suit the bay more to JP4's, i prefer J4's to thats why i sold mine, question though why don't you just take the manifold off and polish it with wire wool? as i presume it's a Piper Manifold which is much better quality than Raceland.

I heard they are prone to cracking after a few years of use when wrapped so unsure about it, and I prefer the stainless look, surely can't make enough of a difference to performance for the extra £50 or so it would cost?

Thanks Wayne, I agree with the J4's looking better in the spaxo, I haven't got the time for the mani tbh, and it's got rust/blistering from a cam cover seal fail, so i'd sooner just buy a shinny new one, sell this one on because theres nothing wrong with it bar looks and a dent in the bottom lol
  779. #779
Much prefer the shiney J4's over the JP4's tbh. As for the mani, seems a waste buying a new one just for the shine. If your going to buy a new one, save that slight bit more and get a Supersprint one They are awesome

Thats fair enough on the mani bud shiny is better I would not worry about heatwrap unless you have problems with ancillaries in the enginebay. Heatwrap will keep more heat in the exhaust system. It will change the pulse tuning but whether its beneficial or not is debatable and would need a rolling road to find out results. Not having it allows the manifold to expand and contract naturally as it heats and cools, hope that heps as mums Piper 4-1 Manifold for her VTR 1.6 8v performs faultless without heatwrap and heatwrap is itchy stuff J4's i just love as there original and can look nice painted or polished, JP4's you can only paint and not polish them my J4'S just need painting properly and the right colour as there brushed painted and wrong colour at the moment from bodge old bodyshops work i don't use no more

Heres a photoshop of how the JP4's with the CF will look in my bay,... Still thinking off they go tbh lol

Good idea that was one of my original plans back when I got the car but tbh I just don't like them enough, the only way they will make there way in to my bay is if my seals fail on the J4's

So guys I have realised the red stictching on my new OMP corsica doesn't really go with my interior and I like to think of myself as a perfectionist so I have decided to drop it for a new one...

    There are 3 Wheels I currently like;

Considering this only because it's different, I have yellow 406 Brembos and it's a Icelandic 'grey' but more blue car lol

    The SUPERLEGGERO which I love...

Oh I really don't know James! I really like that blue wheel! And it wouldn't be common... not that the Superleggero is but it definitely is when compared to this.

I love the Superleggero normally colourful things like the blue one look tacky but something is telling me it's ok? Maybe it's because it's an OMP Corsica haha, think it would look much better in real life hmmm

Thanks for your opinon bud, need some more, i'm so undecided. But I feel i'm swaying towards the blue.. gulp lol

    Update

I have never liked the look of my mani, I think it ruins the look of my bay... so I just bought a Stainless raceland mani.

So my current one is now up for grabs...for those who only care for performance it's perfect.

Old mani doesn't look nice, obviously does the job and all that but I want it to look nice too
  802. #802
manifold looks good! Shame mine doesnt look like that anymore, think I need to brake out the polish lol. Im not sure on the blue wheel, I think it would look good but a black one will always look good. Plus if it looks a bit odd its a lot of money down the drain

Thanks dude I'm quite looking forward to next year now show season should be good, after this all im doing is getting some bush's for the suspension, cams, OMP or Cobreau (can't spell to save my life lol) recliners, can't strip or cage it sadly

I'm probably going to end up with the Superleg tbh but I really would love to see that blue one in person...

Jamie won't the new manifold look just like the old one after some use?

I know my raceland won't look like that ever again, IMO should of just got some black heatwrap on the old one...that's my tactic anyway

I seriously maintain under the bonnet of that car so if it can be controlled by Autosol it will be done for sure, time will tell , it's going on, on monday and @ FCS it's still going to be shinning, probably a colour change because of gasses but it will be gleaming

  813. #813
Well todays the day of the fitting of the new shinny mani, quite excited tbh

Natually, expect a few pics tomorrow lol

She's also getting a new AUX BELT as the part wasn't available when doing Cam belt so a new one will be fitted today

Ordering a new Upper and lower strutbrace very soon!

Quick question to those in the know

What can be done about stiffening up the rear, I want the useless spare out but don't fancy the play in the rear and don't want to look for a custom rear strutbrace, is there anything out there apart from changing my suspension (currently spax adjustable)?

I heard the GTi rear arb is thicker, but not by much would the price of buying and fitting be worth the gain?

    Anyone
  814. #814
The only real thing you could do it fit the gti rear arb or get thicker torsion bars but dont think your suspension would be upto it tbh. Some polyrace rear beam bushes should help abit though.
  815. #815
if you could find a s2 rallye arb they're 24mm and should tighten things up abit but i doubt you'd find one tbh, i found changing the rear bushes to powerflex items did help a little
  816. #816
Thanks guys, hmm i'l probably go for the powerflex bits then

    Update!

Yesterday night the mani went on

Looks good, unsure if the cars any quicker, sometimes it really seems it and others it seems to have lost power, I think i'l put that down to the fact it's brand new and i'm concious to change.

My brand new anthracite OMP brace is on order with YBRacing so that will complete the bay for now

The Quaife gearknob went on als last night but my car generally is looking a state, so no pictures until it gets a proper wash, and interior clean (moved up to uni, and have been living out of car lol!)

Pics all 10 of them lol!

    Comments welcome

The Saxsport imo is the best looking & sounding exhaust for the Saxo, Car is relatively loud with lots of pops and bangs

Bays looking sweet as ever Jamie

Still unconvinced about the manifold staying as it is but i'm ready to be proven wrong!

As for power gains i think the cold air feed needs a reroute...looks very pretty but the air does loop the loop before it even reaches the filter! Could you not flip the 90 before the filter and just use a tiny piece of cold air feed to the slam panel scoop? would help no end, or could you not live with losing some bling from the bay?

Lol we will see with the mani, already had it's second polish today haha

I see what you say about the airfeed but, it may come off depending on if the guy I asked about some morrettes gets back to me.I think he might be pissed I sold the other gear I bought off him or something, even though I made no profit from it, it just wasn't what I wanted in the end on my car... Or it could be down to his girlfriend being bad still, but I pm'd him and noticed he's been online so... that suggest hes not happy lol

I need to get a flexy for zorst as when it's cold I get a little rattle not always but there is no play in the system , not wanting to crack the mani lol

Well after browsing around today I found something I hadn't even considered, I have seen these on fleebay but never actually had a closer look, a guy on here with a 1.1 has one fitted and it's a replica of the OMP brace, so i'm thinking cancel the Anthracite OMP jobby and buy this, price difference is like £5, with the OMP being a tad more expensive...

    Heres a quick PS;

And also got a video uploading of the car with the raceland fitted only a quick vid from cold start and the cars stationary but it's a HD vid (300mb's worth) so will add the link as soon as it's completed

PS ; thoughts on the brace?
  833. #833
    J's going all bling-bling !

I know your trying to go clean, but isnt chrome brace just...chavvy!?

Why not just get an E-tech Brace...would suit your bay better imo
  834. #834
Im with Raz on this one Jamie, chrome strut brace looks odd imo.

    Do it black
  835. #835
I don't agree with it being chavy, looks clean imo & an E-tech literally does nothing, the OMP design does definitely tighten up the front end more, I 100% feel a difference after having one fitted and taking it off numerous times.

Don't insult me with E-tech! danggggg Ryan...
  836. #836

Cameras in very good nick, hardly any wear considering it's 2 years old and is my main camera,

Included in sale is 18-55 std lens, box if I can find it (most likely can) and bits it came with, bar memory card.

Can provide very hardcore close ups or anything if you or anyone is seriously interested, I say that because i'm currently working

Nope, quite the opposite actually dude, thinking of selling her in the new year for a Mondeo ST/Zafira GSI or Fiesta ST or even a Fabia VRS really unsure atm.
  874. #874
It highly looks like in the new year I will have a blast from the past and buy another 206 GTI 180.

Providing I sell this, so in January, i'l apply for my plates get them on retention and start selling.

Price will be 3.5k any less and the bellow doesn't come with.

    Standard parts will also be included in price;

    -standard exhaust
    -std mirror caps
    -std VTS rims (no tires)
    -std airbox

Which I think will be a good price, this isn't an advert though lol

It's a mint 2003 registered car,HPI clear 3 owners from new, almost full Citroen service history, never been on track all mods are way less than a year old, with relatively low milleage 61k belts changed ect. If it doesn't sell at that price, then it's obviously too high,in which case i'l strip it or just keep it.

I wanted bodies but cba lol.

If I split i'll let you know dude, onwards and upwards I guess, who knows maybe i'll get lazy and keep it (hassle with plate everytime) lol

Unsure tbh mate, probably 3k, or without std bits or wheels 2.7k

It wont be ti'l early next year though, (need to make sure my insurance company will cover the 180 too as I pay anually) so say mid January. And I'm in Waltham Abbey

Time will telll mate, it seems pricey when compared to yours, but without sounding up my own arse, my car forgetting your mods and mine is worth more on paper.

    what reg is yours/history/owners/milleage?

Basing it on a not complete service history,2000 plate, 3-4 owners,80k on the clocks the cars worth (without your mods) 1500-1800 allowing just over 2k for other parts. (hense your 4k asking price) obviously the variables will be different*

I value my car @ 2.4k without any mods, I paid around the same for it in Febuary when it was completely standard, however it wasn't a shadow of what it is now (excluding mods) condition wise. It has had around 2k thrown at it in the time, so asking under a grand for all the mods, and including the std parts doesn't sound to sad imo.

Or tell me different, if it sells it sells

Lol maybe no to a VRS!

I miss luxuries tbh, maybe I was deluded by my situation ie I couldn't afford another but now I can and it's a much better car & newer. My S is quicker than a std 180, but a std vts isn't my 180 when mapped would be close with my S but safer, better looking & much more comfortable lol

Lol to not as clean as yours though you would say that

I have cleaned everything on this car, including the undernieth, the only thing I haven't done is give it a lick of paint underneith or in the arches because I don't like the idea of it

Iv'e also had the interior out too and cleaned and polished the paint under the seats lol.

Pics from cleaning and polishing boot floor; Interior is obviously back in lol

I put mine up for sale now, but it's to guage interest unless someone actually comes up with the money, I wont sell it for less with things I include, and i'm not fussed if I end up keeping it, but I would like to change

Thanks dude, I only hope it's a well known member that get's it or someone that will look after it, but it's looking like it's going to be going cheap which means it's very affordable for non enthusiasts...

I'll be loosing alot of money on this it seems down to the time of selling

But I have promised myself I won't go under 2.5k or then I will split it, so it has until March as it is, to sell as a whole, if not it will be back to standard.
  902. #902
It's soo difficult to find a good saxo these days. people expect to pay next to nothing for them. Atleast if someone is willing to pay for it, it's a better chance it will go to a good home! I know i'd have it if i could spare the pennies! it would seem a shame to split it.

    Final chapter, Goodbye ...

Well todays the day she finally get's picked up by her new owner.

newqs36; All I know is she is getting what she deserves BODIES!

I never thought i'd be sad enough to call a car my baby, but she really is, i've owned some really nice cars and had some decent kit on them but by far this car has had the most out of me, money and lots of time effort.

I can honestly say If I had the 2.5k I'd keep it as to me it's worth much more.

    In less than a year from when I got her;

    To;

    This;

    To this;

well it bound to happen, VTS are made for fast round, annoy me when people euro VTS's and drive them at 20mph, what a waste of 16v, they should use a VTR.

Seems that way. I have a feeling that it's going to end up being split as it's for sale soon after.

It was bought for £2.5k, and people know it on the forum, possibly bought it for that and expected to sell it on for £500 or so more up where he's from.My biggest issue with selling was because people couldn't be asked to come down to view/buy.

I'm annoyed it's up for sale so soon after as I don't believe it deserves it considering the amount of work that went in to it, it's abit of an insult.

But fuckit, I don't own it anymore.

    Jamie
  928. #928
It looks very similar to his old S, so maybe he regrets buying it and just selling it on to get something else. Up for the same money so he's not trying to make a quick buck. Like you said not your concern anymore - he can do whatever he likes to it.

Lol thanks mate. Erm as for wanting it back nah it was awesome fun at the time and I did sort of miss it for a while but I don't miss it any more and certainly wouldn't go back to a Saxo, I'm getting too old for all this shit lol.

Team Dynamics wheels come in a variety of offset, it depends on the original order.

If you buy them new, you can request the offset you want.

Hi quite random I checked the forums as I don’t use them anymore!

In answer to your question your best bet is to PM SaxoAL in this thread or try through Rtec as I got them through him although I’m unsure if he still works for Rtec anymore.

I did quickly use their website to see using the wheel finder. ET15 pops up so could have been correct. I know they were direct fitment and didn’t require spacers however when fitted the calliper was very close to the alloy. It didn’t touch but it was tight!

    Dimensions
    Diameter - 15.00"
    Width - 7.00"
    Offset - 15
    Load (in KG)
    Centre Bore - 73.00
    Bolt pattern (PCD) - 4x108
    Code 5W2-570154108
    Reference 40030

If I was you I would try to contact Rtec in St Albans England. It was a long time ago but maybe they may be able to assist you.
