Thanks for the edit Willsy....im now armed with a list of product numbers for my trip to citroen lol
  8. #8
lol no problem, happy to help

All of the above are the part numbers for Citroen.

If anyone has a Peugeot closer to them and would like the equivalent part numbers from Pug ill dig those out too, the covers themselves are identical part numbers, its just the odds and sods that vary

Two questions. The breather pipe, do I need to fit the JP4 one? As these have a breather hole on both the front and back cover?
Question two, the seal that comes with the covers, this is a tight seal/gasket between the cover and the head I take it, so no silicon is needed like on the orignal J4 head to cover?
    Matt
  10. #10
yes you need the jp4 breather hose.
no you dont need silicon as the rubber seal(s) is way superior to the vts rocker cover seals.

Grrr I got my cover today and didn't think to get the breather pipe. Only just thought bout it when looking at the diagram! Hopefully time to pick it up tomorrow!
Thank god for the seal cos wow I was having fun with the silicon stuff on my original covers!
£7 for the citroen badge has made me lol though. Great guide and thank you too Jonny!

Other than the cosmetic benefit, is there any other advantage to fitting these over the standard vts ones?

The breather pipe... On my car now is rubber pipe with citroens amazing version of a jublee clip, on the one I got with the covers its plastic with them clip on fittings. The clip on fitting are too big for my breather (Blue arrows) etc and only fit the cover. How do I get around this? I tried to bend my plastic pipe to get it close to where it needs to be and it broke

So now I've gotta go get another, but what's best way of fitting this?

    Anyone
  17. #17
take both the breather pipes off (after the 'Y' piece)

And then replace them with some oil/fuel pipe and then some fuel pipe clamps or something along those lines.

Nothing to difficult about making them fit

Went to citroen today to find out they no longer do the replacement seal for the rocker cover. they said its gota use liquid seal now.
  19. #19
Just found out from my mate from citroen that its actuallt the c2 rocker seal which iv just relised from the title lol. But can you still use the same rubber sill from the jp4 c2 rocker to fit on the standard j4 VTS rocker cover

Using MJ's pic - thanks BTW - I have the 2 pipes in the top right of the picure, leading to just one pipe. I have a blocker, so there's no 4th pipe. I want to buy some tubing to fit a proper catch tank, can anyone tell me what the correct tubing diameter is to fit over the centre piece / ditribution point showed in the middle of the pic?
  21. #21
Has anyone trued to replace the seals, and found that the seals seem to be a part of the bottom plate?
  22. #22
This is why people upgrade to jp4 covers.....the seal is seperate to the cover.

J4 covers do not have a removable seal.

  23. #23
Sorry, I didnt really explain well!

Basicly I have a pair of jp4 covers, and I was recommended to change the seals, so i bought the seals, went to replace these, but the seals on the plates don't come off..ill get a pic
  24. #24

Heres what I mean, the middle bit comes out, but the seal around the edges wont come off
  25. #25
the seals 100% come out - and are replaceable, pic is hard to see what you are talking about.
  26. #26
Ok, well the middle part is a plate, that comes out, but the seal around the edge of that plate doesn't!

Ill try and get another pic hold on
  27. #27

on the left is the 'plate' with the seal around it, and it is bonded on

    Thats it together
  28. #28
you can see the groove where the seal would sit/is sitting on the right hand part of the cover.
  29. #29
Yer, I tried placing the new seal on there and then placing the plate back in, but it wont fit. I think to replace the seal I need new plates!

Will they be ok to put on as they are?
  30. #30
you don't need new plates to replace the seals - you don't even need to touch the plates to replace the seals, they simply pull off from the camshaft cover.

You got a pic of the camshaft covers from the top? They def jp4 ones yeh?
  31. #31
Yer, hold on! Ill get another pic!

hmm......there isnt any rubber seals on the cam covers
  32. #32
From the top of one cover

    close up of on end

    and then from the underside

sorry for the crap quality! iphone
  33. #33
The seal is right there in the bottom pic, just pull it off and replace it if need be
  34. #34
Yer, I thought that was the seal, maybe i was explaing properly above, that its sealed/bonded/part of the plate

You can see on 'bond' that it sort of steps down a few times
  35. #35
Sorry but I don't understand what you're asking?

You trying to replace the seal? You got a new seal?
  36. #36
    Right,

    Sorry for all the confusion.

I had these jp4 covers, went to fit them, and I was recommended to replace the seals before I did. So i bought new seals, went to fit them today and found out that the seal doesn't come off.

So i was checking if it'll be fine, and seeing if anyone has had the same problem
  37. #37
Quick Q... are these the same covers as the ones I had on my engine, but back in 2001? Back in the day, the covers I had stuck up too much with the Mk1 Saxo bonnet and hit one of the reinforcing ridges.

This makes me think these covers are slightly different? Can anyone confirm?

Still have them lying around somewhere
  38. #38
old man yes they are JP4s on the old heap

I know some people like s1 106 owners have spaced the bonnet for clearance
  39. #39
Do these seals fit the j4 covers aswell? Or is it still possible to get seals for the j4 covers?

No, J4's do not have replacement seals, gasket sealant is what you need if the seals are shot

    Answered above too:

I know people use the sealant but I've just painted my the head and didn't want sealant or anything going on it. I'm getting the bottomsachinef flat so they seal s bit better but wondered if these seals would work for j4 covers. Or can you still buy the j4 seals separately? Cheers though
  43. #43
cant replace the j4 seals. Could try turning them upside down then putting a even bead of setting/silicone sealant on letting it dry, then try bolting that down, to avoit the selant squirting out. Bit whoreish though

    Great Thread

Can I replace baffle plates from JP4 together with its covers to J4?
