gearbox

   im off to pick up my new gearbox today just wondering can i take the old one out just by useing a jack and how hard is it to change over just unbolt old one and put new one in?? just i really cant wait till next week to get it fitted professionally im impatient lol help would be great

   its easy mate,,,
   1)put the car on axle stands
   2) wheels off,balljoint off,driveshafts out
   3)battrey &tray out,starter motor off,loosen gearbox mount (put jack under engine first!!)
   4) put the jack under the engine (oill sump is fine) and lower the jack down to make it easier to take the box out.
   5) undo bolts on gearbox (think theres about 3-4 allen key bolts iirc)
   6) remove gearbox and fit new one (u will need someone to help you lift the box back in as thay are a bit of a pain and a tight fit)
   7) put it all back together and fill gearbox up with gb oil!!
   
   took me 3 hours with my mate not rushing!!

   oils already been drained mate just needs swapping over

    yeah cars stuck in gear at the moment and unsure about price mate ill let you know tomorrow as i may try and do it myself

    how the hell do i get the intermediate bearing off on the drivers side it says rotate 90 degrees and it slides out but it wont budge anyone no??

    If you have rotated the two lug ended bolts then try harder.
    
    I found my intermediate bearing was really really tight in the carrier.
    
    PULL harder if not gently force something between the bearing carrier and the shaft to get it to come away. There is nothing else holding it.

    ive unscrewed the carrier off the car but its still stuck think its jammed in gearbox

    unlikely as they pull free very easily from the gearbox end.
    
    As said pull harder if you are sure its just in the gearbox end that its tight.

    somethings not right because it shouldnt be that tight. If you have taken the bearing carrier completely off the engine block and its now loose then there is nothing stopping the shaft coming out of the box other than friction.
    
    Sounds like you need someone to come round and have a lookie for you.
    
    I would if i wasnt 3 hours+ away!

    yeah your telling me mate if i cant get it out ill just drop gearbox out with it in and just buy a new drive shaft

    got gearbox off and got driveshaft out just needed a bit more pulling got crow bar on it and theres a hole the size of a bottle top in the gearbox
