   what is the actually difference, i tried looking

   A lot. There can also be a lot of difference between one silver top to another depending on the model there from. If you want a list of exactly every difernce in all the engine I could not tell you but it would be a bloody long list If you want to know a specific difference you may get more luck

   black top >99
   cross over silver top >99-2000
   silver top >2001
   
   these are the main types,
   
   main differences include ignition, valve springs, wiring loom, cat, inlet and exhaust manifolds, ecus, cam iirc...

   don,t forget the crappy roller rocker gear on silver tops --first thing to dump if doing serious tuning

   whats the roller rocker, compared to anything else ?
   is my 2002 vtr a silvertop yeah ? thought they were more powerful 98bhp rath than a 89/90bhp

   its a silver top because the top of your engine is "silver" they do produce more bhp but the valve spings are softer etc etc... a mk1 xsi head on a mk 2 bottom end it ideal iirc teh valve strings were green on the earlier models

   thought it was a silvertop, its a grimey colour. thinking about spraying it but im trying to find out what i need to replace if i did. rubber seal or something

   2 bolts, spray put it, 2 bolts back on, job done... if seal is nakerd replace it
