question about omex into mk2 3plug

    hi all. im doing a throttle bodied project and heard i need to use my standard 3 plug ecu along with omex so the dash still funtions correctly. is there any way around this such as using a single plug interior loom. or has any one made up a diagram. or can any one explain what needs to be kept/ cut and joined to run this. cheers

    The only connection likely to cause a problem if you ditch the OE ECU, is the coolant temp gauge. But I believe Luthor has solved this with the Predator ECU he produces, so maybe worth speaking to him about that.

    is that all it affects. its easy enough to put in another gauge. not really to keen on the predator as i would like to keep hold of my ecu if i ever get rid of my car. im sure it works perfectly well just not my thing.

    You have to make the right connections for the speedo, tacho, oil pressure light etc.

    If you want to make it reversible like that, then perhaps leave all the existing wiring in place and simply unplug and rewire the essential connections for the mappable ECU, ignition feed, fuel pump, tacho.

    well i have 2 engine looms so i was going to chop 1 for making up the omex loom. and keep the other for putting back on whenever i decided to sell up.

    I admit ive not looked into the 3 plugs much but ive read the omex manual back to front and it can provide all the features the orginal ecu did - ie fan control.

    You will be converting back to wasted spark insead of sequicental and the injectors will need to be wired in banks of 2 but thats about it!

    The Predator is plug and play, and operates the dash. No need to chop your wires at all, keep your ECU in the garage, and go back to standard in 30seconds.

    The stock ECU controls the dash temp gauge, that's all. Simplez. It's a 100hz 5v signal with varying positive pulse width.

    Again - simplez, unfortunately, the OMEX can't control it.

    I guess you could use the management light and an OMEX output to flash/come on when the coolant > 100degress or something??

    Sorry your right, they are. Its the injectors that are sequential.

    That dash temp gauge is a new one on me though. Especially since people have been installing mk2 digi dials into mk1 saxos (and even ax's!) on single plug ecus with no temp gauge issues atall. Is there not a seperate gauge for the dash temp and ecu temp still? I would have just thought its a case of fitting the older style ecu temp sensor if so.

    Semi-sequential, (no cam sensor).

    They use the coilpack feedpack to sense cam position on the ME7 range iirc

    The coilpack outputs a phase signal which is defined from the voltages from the coils. The voltage to create a spark under pressure (combustion stroke) is much higher than the cylinder thats on its exhaust stroke..

    Each time the coil fires cylinder 1+4 the coilpack compares the two voltages, if cylinder 1 is under compression (had the higher voltage requirement) it lets the ecu know buy returning a voltage down the ecu feedback wire. If it was lower its under the exhaust phase and cylinder 4 must be under compression so it returns no voltage.

    this is my problem... speedo and temp gauges... i run omex 600...
    can anyone have solved the problem?
