Ok, so ive had a few idea's, will they work

Ive already got, inclosed raceland and a ashley group exhaust.

so what else can i do? and i dont wanna drop a bigger engine in it.

    Thanks.

if your fitting cams to see any real benefit your going to need a remap. so the price of the cams and the remap you could have had a vtr or even a vts engine fitted.

If you search you will find hundreds of threads that suggest this and its purely because its the easiest, cheaper and better option. then once you get board of the vtr/s power then you can look to mod that.

    Alrite cool, nice one

my cost effective reliable plan would be an engine swap

Just put a bigger engine in. Modifying anything <1.6 = A money pit!

want instant power? drop a 16v engine in no need to change loom and bosh a 16v ecu on easiest way of doing a 16v conversion

I think what alot of people tend to forget is that it isn't as easy as you think to just 'drop' in a vts/vtr lump , first you have to buy it and then you have to have paid to get it fitted unless you do it yourself , what happened to modifying a car for the fun of it on a budget and making it a bit quicker for fun ? mate i got a furio with a cat back ashley exhaust system and a induction kit with cold air feed, i've already got LOADS of extra acceleration from the feel of it and have done a couple of standard vtrs... its worth gettin the basics

AND... that 'legaly' you have to tell your insurance company obv about any mods you do ofc.
  9. #9
Which if you told your insurance company you dropped a vts lump in it would make it DOUBLE easily and you may aswell just have a vts in the first place

loving the tripple post, however, your trying to say adding "cat back ashley exhaust system and a induction kit with cold air feed" has put you up roughly 15bhp to match or even beat a VTR?

i mean, dont get me wrong, bhp isnt everything, but the cars are pretty much identical on all factors apart from performance where the VTR is much quicker

i wouldn't even humour you with asking for proof

back on topic: you could add an enclosed induction kit, strip it, straight through exhaust, better mani, etc etc

but like said, for the cost, drop in a VTR or VTS lump

in terms of insurance, i think an engine swap would be cheaper than a heavily modified 1.4 engine, with likes of cams, remap, different mani etc etc

I know... i thoguht of stuff after i orginally posted lol.. anywhoo.. i wasn't nessicerily saying that i had more power than a vtr .. end of the day it's how you drive it and if your changing gear at the wrong time and dont know how to drive then my less performance becomes pretty much irrelivant , and in terms of cheapness an engine swap isn't that cheap and if you tell your insurance company its still massivly expensive... and i know in general if you do want huge gains you will be best off getting a bigger engine BUT.. for like a first car it just pisses me off when the first thing people post is 'GET A VTS/VTR LUMP' .. maybe people want to upgrade there curent engines a bit first ??
  12. #12
so what mani would you recomend?

what about chaning the head? i dont know what that involves.
  13. #13
16v it.. save fannying about and spending pointless money
  14. #14
    instant, easy peasy, faster?

Remove seats, spare wheel, empty mcdonalds happymeal cartons, subs, everythingggg!!!

that's the easiest way to speed the damn thing up.

hes said he doesnt want an engine swap....

manifold, staight through exaust, drop weight, chip the ecu... i know what u mean by 'dont want a engine change' ive got a furio and for a 1st car im loving it and want a vtr/vts when i can actual afford it not when ive just turned 17.
you got a progress? wouldnt mind seeing what youve done to yours to get extra brake...

Most sensible thing to do imo is save your pennies and buy a VTS

Failing that, cams and remap, brake upgrade (VTS or 266mm), suspension upgrade (apex -50mm kit on a budget), 1.1 or VTS gearbox, strip it/remove weight where possible (spare wheel, unneeded junk).

Standard VTS would wipe the floor witht that though and the insurance costs would be similar, but its your car and your money, so its your decision

as said above, put a 1.1 box or 1.4 xsi box on ... see more aceleration
  21. #21
    Ok cool, cheers boys
  22. #22
    just 16v it ben
  23. #23
    in a word, boost.

in a few words, swap head for xsi or rallye and use either ecu

in a few more words again, save your money, by a vts, and just have fun in the car in the meantime
