Saxo vtr 0-60 ?

What's ur 0-60 time?

Timed mine earlier, completely stock, haven't done anything to it and it comes in at 9.3 seconds, it's a 1.6 mk1 vtr 98 plate.

0-60 when new is 9.3 seconds I think so I'm pleased with my time

Mine was 8.5s, timed properly at York raceway.

iPods, etc really aren't accurate, they can give you a rough idea but that's it, the only way to measure it yourself reasonably (IMO) is with a G-TECH timer thingy.

WTF! Why do people have a problem with having a quick timing on a stop watch to get an idea of the 0-60 time? People should get a life, fix ur saxo instead of being sarcie about timing 0-60!

i did a quarter mile last weekend in my saxo in 15.17 seconds timed at santa pod in my vts
that was passing the line at 89.5 mph

its stripped with breathing mods

do a proper test
not with an iphone ffs

Then whats the point in discussing inacurate information? Its a waste of time, poeple have already told you their times in this thread the 3second one etc.

Probabaly becouse on these other forums poeple have the common sense and maturity to know not to time their 0-60 by counting elephants or whatever.

Discussing a 0-60 time in this way is the same as discussing our BHP going by modifications packaging estimates.

Also hes comparing and saying his main reason is to compare it to standard/new book 0-60 times.

When its the most unfair test and dosent tell you weather the car is healthy and still strong at all! Theres too many factors which would contribute to giving him an inaccurate time even if it was proeprly timed with proffesional equipment. Tyres, Driver, Road Surface, Altitude, Air Tempreture, level of the road if its increasing in altitude or decreasing, weather conditions, wind speed, fuel tanks current capacity, drivers weight and the initial launch of the car in the 0-60 run.

If you need to change gear before you actually hit 60 (which remember, could also affect your time, because the speedo will read well over 60 before you're actually doing it), added to the fact that the starting and stopping the stopwatch won't be exact (which again, look at how quickly half a second passes on a stopwatch), you could be almost a couple of seconds out...

How far out are the speedo's on these Saxo's? I wouldn't say 5-6mph out at only 60mph.. Id say 5-6mph out at 100MPH probably

Mine does 60.3 MPH in 2nd gear, and shows 60mph on the clocks. You tryin to tell me it's only 54-55mph real speed?

Maybe look up the figures for each Saxo, surely the internet will tell you what speed it does in each gear.

And yes obviously phone timing isn't 100% accurate but it can give you an indication of your time, probably within a margin of 0.5 seconds if you do it right.

My old dials read accurate with my GPS and them speed check sign things, my new ones read about 10% out, so at 60mph GPS, they read about 65mph, and I know it's down to the dials, because I know the speeds the car would sit at at certain revs and now it sits at a 'lower speed' at the same revs.

So no two sets of dials will read exactly the same...

No one's dishing the shit out for anyone claiming to open their car up on the road, it's just people trying to explain that timing it on a stopwatch/phone etc means shit, and people who have timed it like that are trying to claim it is.

Simple fact is, there's no way in hell you'll get a decent reading with a stopwatch/phone etc, because there are too many variables, which could add/subtract half a second or more quite easily, which when you're timing your 0-60, is quite a bit.

So it's not people slating people for no reason, it's only people slating people for not understanding/arguing that simple fact.

get the dynolicous app for the iphone and use that as a base, do multiple runs too.

thats the best way to time it really without pro equipement and doesnt have human timing errors

Technically not true, if you look back to the first few posts he actually states there is bound to be some human error, but will be around the 9 second mark. He only wanted to know the whereabouts of 0-60 and what everyone elses was.

This thread now also makes me chuckle. All fun and games though.

Sadly, even if you take your gearbox's final drive, individual gear ratios and tyres sizes, you cannot use your tachometer as an accurate speed reading, as the RPM displayed will probably be different to what the ECU is reading from the engine sensors, and tyre wear can cause inaccuracies too. However, if you do decide to use your tachometer meter as a speed reading, and you've calculated correctly, it's like to give a more accurate reading than your speedometer.
