It did this before few weeks ago, i've left my engine running.. idle.. then it started to rev on it's own.. before i've read the forums and it says it's the idle control valve or something, but when i put it in 1st, let go of my clutch, my car drives on it's own... will it still be the valve?... or?
engine revs on it's own like mad

#2probably if your just lifting the clutch the engine in a sense is still idleing, just take your idle control valve off and give it a good clean with some carb cleaner

#3When the gfs old vtr did this we reset the ignition somehow and it cured it can't really remember how to reset it , think you turn the ignition lights on for 10 seconds then off then on again to start the car ,
Sure someone will know better than me how to do it

#4Check the throttle body for any vacum hosing thats come off. On my westcoast there was a bit of hosing that comes from the crankcase breather bit and that had come causing it to rev at like 2 grand. When i put my finger over the whole the revs dropped right down. So just check around and make sure evreything looks ok.

#6mine had a similar problem but it was a slow rev. where the accelerator cabe emerges into the bonnet there is a split pin where the inner cable appears. basicly mine was grotty and clogged up with dirt and grime so cleaned and re lubed etc as it was stopping the cable running smoothly and a simple 5min job helped so much when the car was idling1 user thanked this post:
