i have a complete gear stick unit here with the bush init mate if you wanna come and get it. its the one i took off when i put the quickshift in.
    yours if you want it

these two little bushes are rarely the cause of a floppy feeling gearstick.
  13. #13
Would they be a cause for a slight vibration of the stick in second gear?
  14. #14
Ok had a look earlier, put new linkages on but still there was play. Most of the play seemed to be centered around the copper/bronzey coloured bit......

    What is it?

see the metal pin in the bronzey colored thing?

Basically what happens is that pin like gets compressed over time and then means that when you move the gearstick it moves the play in the pin before moving the shaft in the gearbox.

When i changed my clutch i put a new pin in that lever and now my gearstick is solid as you like.

How did you go about changing it? Did you have the box out of the car?

You can do it without taking the gearbox off but i couldnt be dealing with the serious hassle with doing it that way so i just waited till my clutch needed doing.

A couple of people have done it by removing the passengers wheel and putting a big punch in a hammering it out.

A million times easier when the gearbox is on the floor though.

I could imagine. One last question What was did you replace it with?

its like a little split pin. Someone may be able to give you the part number. I dont remember it or have it written down unfortunately

Anyone shed anymore light on this?
  21. #21
I wouldn't mind knowing this coz I think mine might be going. What's its proper name?
  22. #22
Its a gear box selector pin, wheel does not need to be removed, jack up the nearside of the car, get a long bar, a partner to lay underneith, hold a punch inline with the pin and use the bar to tap the punch forcing the pin out, if its worn it will go pretty easy, new one will knock in hasstle free too. total time about 10 mins.

The part is called a 'Gear box selector pin'

    use the search button!!!!!

part number is C250924, fitted this along with a new box not too long ago and it took out ALOT of play in the stick - it feels nice and solid, although funny enough I prefer my stick wobbly as Ive been used to it
